Out of curiosity, has any thought been given to another August Best Post contest?

Am happy to take myself out of the running if one materializes (so this post isn't too self-serving.)

I just like Contest months. :)

I think we've just all been busy enough with summery things that it didn't even come up, yeah. So I guess the short answer is "no, no thought has been given to it".

This is one of those rare Augusts where we have a lot going on (various trips and events) so it's not something we gave a lot of thought to. I enjoyed the last contest where users gave the prizes out that we did in December and I think we'd like to do something like that again.

OK, so if the community were willing to sort of crowd source gifts for a contest the way they did last December, and if favorites could be tallied automatically would one be a possibility?

I guess what I'm asking is whether contests are a lot of work for Team Mod? As much as I like them, I wouldn't want to add a huge project to your workload.

It is already August. This is not going to happen this August. This might be a thing we'll do later in the year. They're not a lot of work but they are some extra work and we've got busy schedules this month in our Real Lives that make this month not the usual summer doldrums it often is.

This might be a thing we'll do later in the year.

I'm a really big fan of the December contest vs. the August one. It makes for a really fun year-end event around the holidays.

It's totally possible to make a best post between August 4 and September 5 contest. Think outside the box folks.
