Famous Dates in FPP History July 6, 2013 6:41 PM Subscribe
• NEVAR FORGET the Microsoft Kin!!!1!
• An FPP that will live in infamy. -> Birds
• Is it "Back, and to the left," or, "Back and to the left"?
• Today's FPP: it is important that you wear underpants.
You get the idea -- the FPP# corresponds to the famous date, written as [MMDDYY]. What are some more famous dates' FPPs?
Bastille Day? A surprise volcano!
I was going to suggest everyone plug in their birthday, but the posting-personal-information aspect would've dissuaded people from posting comments.

I think you'll find you've got the days and months in the wrong order.
You're probably spearing peas with your fork in your right hand too.

It's AMERICAN date order, ODiV. Otherwise, we'd have no dates later in the month than the 12th.
Also an appropriate 4th of July post.

Microsoft Kin!!!1!
Ah yes, the delicious tale in which a bumbling and incompetent corporate giant spends two years and a billion dollars developing a phone without maps, weather, youtube, games, apps of any kind, or even a calculator, only to completely pull the plug after being on the market for only 48 days and selling (at most) a few thousand units.

Jeff Fahey was born on 11/29/58. Jeff Fahey was also Lawnmower Man. Mefi post 112958 was about the 100 best children's books.
Jeff Fahey cares about all of the children in the world.
Coincidence?

I looked up my birthday thread. The month is such that it's long enough ago that many mefites who have left the site commented in that thread.
It kinda made me sad. >sniff<

There are too many commemorative and celebratory teapots, dishes, serving tray, tea kettles, and pots to ever forget.

Battle of Hastings results in "Sorry about your productivity..." (kind of put a crimp in King Harald's day).
The Magna Carta results in an FPP about origami, which seems apt.
Date of Churchill's "We shall fight them on the beaches" speech leads to an FPP about Harry Reid telling Bush II that the Iraq war is lost.

I know who General LaFayette was. I was trying to make a joke about how I forgot all about the Microsoft Kin, which was mentioned in the OP.

Is there a thread that points to its own date?
For example, May 17, 2006 leads to this thread from May 18, 2006, a thread aptly titled 'Holy Recursion, Batman!'
But that misses it by one day. Can anyone do better?
