I can't be the only one suffering deeply after this exceedingly concise update:
I got back from my trip to a mailbox full of postcards! The most cryptically addressed was just Box 345, 05060. Nothing with just my name and town ... yet.No pictures? No stories? AUGH.

That one doesn't seem surprising as they do't need your name or the town name (written out) to deliver that - that's all Postal System-speak. I was holding out for the one just addressed "Jessamyn, Vermont."

There are some notes on the Flickr photo in case folks didn't want usernames linked to ... I don't know. The least address was just Box 345 05060, so yeah not as cool as just "Jessamyn, Vermont" but we can still try.

I can't find any good postcards that I like offline to buy. I did, however, just buy a whole lot of notecards with envelopes. Now I want to have a Mefi postcard/notecard exchange.
FYI: There exists a Global Forever Stamp now! $1.10. Like the in-US Forever Stamps, however, it only works for letters up to 1 oz (or 2 oz to Canada), whereas regular first class stamps are good for letters up to 3.5 oz.
And since I'm geeking out over stamps, can I just say that the Centennial Cherry Blossom Forever Stamps are so beautiful.

I like the one that says DON'T BE A JE--. Apparently it is by Barbara Kruger, and that last word is JERK. But cutting it off just at the point where it might be saying DON'T BE A JESSAMYN is nice.

I tried "Jessamyn, Vermont, USA". The person in the post office who sold me the stamp insisted I write USA as "There's no such country as Vermont". Posted from Birmingham, England, first week of May. 1950s picture of a library on the front.
Think may have sent you one from Ironbridge last autumn but memory hazy, age etc. I'll send one with just your name, town, USA later.

That's a beautiful fresco. I just saw it for the first time in person since it is at the British Museum Pompeii exhibition. I had no idea so many frescoes survived or they were so good. That one, and the Three Graces, just superb.
Also, I owe jessamyn a postcard.

Oh that reminds me! I encountered another Jessamyn at the con I went to - she was from Canada. I meant to go ask her just how annoying it was to share namespace with someone with your googlejuice but I never quite managed to corner her.

At first, I was all, "Aww, man, mine didn't get there. Bummer!" and then I realized that David Bowie was just distracting me, and mine was there. So: yay! And thanks for posting the follow-up.

I have, on this day, the 10th of June 2013, introduced into the US postal system a postcard addressed only to "MetaFilter's Own Jessamyn". Now taking bets as to whether or not it makes it.
This postcard is beginning its journey in New Orleans so that's an immediate -1 in the "organized and capable" column, but +1 in "willing to accept strange ideas" so I'm hoping those two cancel out.

Well, it appears to have been two weeks with no delivery confirmation on my most recent postcard. I suppose the post office employees were not nearly as amused as I was.
