You can't search people's usernames; therefore, I am unable to stalk my own wisdom and preen accordingly.

youandiandaflame, yeah I'm not that happy about the theme either (really was the least unusable thing I could find on Tumblr's theme repository). Looking for better alternatives or might end up coding one myself.
I'm trying to only post 5 posts per day - let me know if that's too much or too little.

For my part I sort of go by the idea that anything I post here is fair game to be reposted elsewhere, as long as attribution is maintained. If somebody thinks something I said is clever enough to repeat elsewhere I can only be pleased. It's not as if there's mad money to be made by selectively reposting MeFi shit.
It would be different if there was some Metafilter clone ala those Wikipedia clones just reposting everything, of course.

Aha, somebody made their picky favorites into a tumblr! That's good, if I'd have done so it would have been 50% #1 quidnunc kid and that's kind of embarrassing.
Also I don't get where people get the idea that this is some sort of secret private space. We're on the internet. We quote things from people on the internet all the time. Sometimes it is with approval. Commonly it is... not. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

We don't own the content. We gave specific advice about being careful about stuff that seemed really personal or seemed to be making fun of users and suggested the users be contacted and asked for permission. That's about it.

Personally I think that if you're going beyond just quoting a small amount here and there (which you totally are given the whole thing is taken from here) then you really need to ask the copyright holders for permission before reposting their work. Just because something is on the internet doesn't mean it's free for anyone to republish any way they like, and that whole 'copyright belongs to the poster' thing is supposed to mean something.
But I also recognise that pretty much all of metafilter is scraped and reposted all over the place anyway so whatever.

You can use the archive to do mass tag editing, meaning you could fix that and actually use usernames as tags. Take you 20 minutes, but you could do it.

Ok, I actually read the shakes-sweetkid-phunniemee-elizardbits exchange aloud to my long-suffering boyfriend.
I also very much enjoyed the image of a resentful jessamyn glowering over email confusion, especially because it was such a bizarrely specific reaction to have. So thanks a lot for ruining that, cortex. >=|

Also I sympathize with both shakes and sweetkid. There's always kind of a rotating pseudoclique of mefintelligentsia, but I don't think those folks are actually trying to have that happen. They're just being themselves and talking with people they like to talk to. As sweetkid said, nbd.

I just wanted to register it because I know there are other people who feel the same way. I don't want to demand the Best At stuff stop entirely obviously, which is why it's NBD and I know it's a way people engage with the site. I just think it's good to recall that there are other perspectives and a lot of people who contribute well here beyond the "usual suspects."

I enjoyed the bizarre ambiguity of it too, but then I had this lightning bolt vision of someone two years from now making some angry "you mods tell us to email you about stuff but you also tell people you're totally resentful about us not reading it fast enough WHY ARE YOU JERKS RUINING METAFILTER" comment in a metatalk thread and us being super confused about what the hell that was about, and man I just wanted to bury that hypothetical in a shallow grave in the desert ASAP.

2. I don't think I love the theme :(. Maybe it's just me but it seems slightly hard to really get a grasp on what I'm reading without first clicking through and I'm internet lazy.
