Buy A Shirt - how long has that black shirt been there? Did it used to be a different color? I need to know if it's new or if I have absolutely horrible observational skills.
I noticed this today too!

And to pre-emptively answer the next question of "when will there be new designs?" I would suspect we'll probably come up with some about once a year, so maybe for Fall of 2013 have some new designs as we head into the holidays.

Can't we make minor changes to it in the first five minutes after ordering?

I'm just here to testify to the quality of these shirts, but not based on the MeFi run - I bought a TopatoCo design from one of the comics a while back.
It's not just that the shirt itself is sturdy yet soft and becoming even more comfy and personally-fit over time, but also that the design has stayed smooth and bright. Very much worth the money. Just make sure to pick a design you'll want to wear for a looooooong time.

and, yes, it is the one and only AA garment I own, and will forever remain that way; I continue to hope that all quality t-shirt vendors will find equivalent stock from less sleazy purveyors over time, but I have to be honest about the danged thing.

I thought there were other designs. Wasn't there one that said something about being a snowflake? Do designs get retired? Clearly I've not been paying attention to the shirt stuff.

Yeah, there was a special snowflake one in the past. There have been a few different designs over the years, which (in general) haven't been reprinted once they sell out. The new designs are the only ones available at Topatoco.

Would there be any way to order personalized shirts with username/number on the lapel? Or on the back like a jersey? I would buy the hell out of one of those.

Here's the t-shirt post from last fall. The American Apparel sizes run small. Just posting this to confirm the AA 2XL is anyone else's XL.
And yeah I'll be jazzin' the Black T in Pullman this weekend :)

Yeah, me too. Although my user number is 5 digits, I wonder about how a 6-digit number (like my grandson's, for example) would look.

While it's a fairly conservative rubric, I find the most helpful way to navigate the "should I quote Dave Chappelle in a null context" dilemma is to ask this series of questions and to stop if you answer any of them no:
1. Am I Dave Chappelle?

I think a mefi shirt with a + and a ! on the back would be a terribly flirtacious thing to wear to a meet up.

It's a pretty low priority thing, the shirts barely break even after paying the artists for the designs, TopatoCo is a pretty cool outfit that handles everything for us and offers shirts from lots of web comics and other sites, so it's kind of win-win.
