Congrats to slmorri for winning, in convincing fashion, this year's Metafilter NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Bracket.

She was 6 points to good of the rest of the field. msali and someone named Swing the Heaviest Hammer (John) placed and showed. Good job everyone!

Now, my bracket was bust as soon as Syracuse made the Final Four (cuz all my other choices were out by then), so can this be where we talk about the heart attack I nearly had today when a (n ill-informed) coworker asked me what I thought about UofArizona paying PAC-12 refs to call technical fouls on other teams during the PAC-12 tournament this year?

I'd heard about the Ed Rush frou-ra-rah, and nearly crapped my pants when this cat (wrongly) accused the UofA of participating in such shenanigans. Luckily, like I said, he had a poor understanding.

So yeah, years and years and years of me screaming at the PAC-12 refs finally validated. Yes!

This was my first time participating in an on-line bracket competition and I thought it was great fun. And this was a great tournament to have as my first, because CRAZY.
I'm definitely in for next year.

My chance of winning went up in smoke when Michigan beat Syracuse, but the fact that I was still in the running at that point (I think I would have won if Syracuse had made the final) was a pleasant surprise to me. Still, eighth place ain't too bad.
