Mobile site: truncated text April 6, 2013 4:02 PM Subscribe
When browsing the front page on my phone, the text of many posts runs off the right-hand side of the screen.
I've been using the mobile interface for quite a while and this issue is pretty new. I'm running Android 4.1, but I also see it in the Opera Mini simulator so I don't think it's anything on my end. If I set the "Title Font Size" preference to zero, the issue seems to go away, so I'm guessing that the bug has something to do with post titles.

You mean that mobile phones are pretty crappy at displaying information in any quantity.

I don't mind the edit window, except it's hard to go back and review as I type, so I tend to to write long comments. Also, autocorrect is infuriating except when it's hilarious. The edit window, blessed be its link, is very helpful with this, and I certainly don't blame the problem on the site.
If we are getting ponies, could I have fingers that are more elegantly tapered? My thick digits make using phone keyboards a special kind of thrill.....

Is this where I say that MetaFilter is a huge component of any consideration I make towards a new smartphone? A physical keyboard is a must to maintain the speedy, high levels of snark that's come to be expected of me while I'm on the go.

"Siri? Please insult carsonb, but in an infuriatingly subtle way with plausible deniability. Thank you." I have seen the future, and it is an ugly, ugly app....

Those are getting rarer and rarer. I have a Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G, which is one of the better ones out of what I fear may be the last generation of slider keyboard phones. Same internals as the Galaxy S3, but lower spec screen and camera, still on Ice Cream Sandwich despite being released last October, no timeline for a Jelly Bean update announced, and the custom ROM developer community for it had to fight tooth-and-nail to even get a forum for it over on XDA developers (when they did, the forum was tossed into the "Legacy Devices" section).
Fortunately, there are still a few accessory manufacturers who are making phone cases with a sliding bluetooth keyboard.

I just edited the offending post so it should be set now. Sorry about the hassle.
