Did you hear? One of the coolest librarians alive works here! March 27, 2013 11:58 AM   Subscribe

Congratulations, Jessamyn! There wasn't any prize, but I'm sure it's the honor of being part of a Flavorwire list that makes all that great work worthwhile.

I would have gone with: "Check this out! One of the coolest librarians alive works here!"

But thanks for pointing this out. And for skipping the corny joke. And congrats, Jessamyn!

Not enough quizzical yet bemused exasperation. Also, she was photobombed by Scrabble.

Thanks. When I cut my hair off I decided to get some professional-ish headshots done by a local photographer (who does great work). He did my photo for about.me also. I'm going to send those other librarians notes to see if they want to start the librarian justice league or something.

Don't involve Batman. Guy's a dick.

Very cool! Thanks for linking it--today I am feeling very ambivalent about libraries and librarians and the future, so this was a great reminder that people are out there doing innovative things with the 'library' concept. Jessamyn is definitely one of them and it's awesome to see some folks I hadn't heard of on the list, too. Yay for cool librarians!

Batman is totally a librarian, it's how he keeps his crime files organized. He was trained by the world's greatest librarian, Barbara Gordon, who also had to set up the Batcave with wifi.

I have pseudo-bragged on an alarming number of occasions that I know the world's most badass librarian online. While I don't think it's ever impressed people much about me, personally, it has led to some awesome conversations.

Congratulations, Jessamyn!

If you set up the Justice League of Librarians, I think you should be Digital Diva!

Or Jessamyn Justice!

The Librarian of Liberty? Jessamyn Explains It All?

Well, anyway, your catchphrase could be, "Reference THIS, literacy newb!" And then you throw dictionaries and stuff.

Or tablets pre-loaded with Wikipedia, if you want to get all digital on their illiterate asses. Whatever.

Anyway, yay!

I think her superhero name should be AskMe and she should have a big + on her unitard and wield a badass hammer that solves things. And maybe she's blind, like justice, but uses echolocation to master the art of parkour.

Hells to the yes! Good for you, Jess! (see what I did there?) Anyway, we all know that Nancy Pearl has her own action figure, right? Well, I think it's time our beloved Jessamyn gets her own action figure as well! What say you all? In fact, maybe we should have action figures of all the mods. What an interesting collectible set that would be.

The whole idea that some people are Librarians is just superstitious twaddle, and congratulating Librarians for being Librarians is idiotic and anti-rational.

Of course, I would say that - I'm a Taurusarian. We're notorious for being assholes.

Smart. Everybody should have a professional headshot. You know how they say most of us are one accident or illness away from bankruptcy? We're also all one YouTube video -- which we may not even be aware has us in it -- away from being a celebrity. Be prepared, I say.

The Justice League should have cool catch phrases like

"Your punishment is overdue, Book-Burglar. And now your breath-borrowing privileges are about to be revoked."

"Some say that we librarians love to see people reading. But once my book-bullets have pierced your body with many wounds, Dr. Illiteracy, we'll love to see you bleeding. 'Cos that sorta rhymes. Plus we hate you."

"Don't make me throw the book at you, Marginalia-Man. For one thing it might damage the spine. Also, fuck you for writing in library books at the goddamn time, you ass."

"I'm going to catalogue you under Dewey Decimal classification 155.937, Captain No-local-government-services. Jesus Christ this is the stupidest catchphrase anyone has ever said."

"Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh".

If there really were mod action figures, you could only collect them together once in a great while. Most of the time they would have to be kept apart, connected by wireless, but kept in separate corners of your house.
