Many versions of the same thing January 24, 2013 6:44 PM Subscribe
I like the FPPs that have many versions of the same thing, such as this cups and balls post. I'm sure I've seen others in the past, but I can't remember them, and the search engine is letting me down. Are there any other FPPs that have many versions of the same thing - song, short film, etc?
I posted this one on a Korean modern rock song that gets covered a lot by other Korean singers and bands.

How about multiple different versions of Mefi posts about multiple different versions of things? How meta is that?

In this case, it's great because all the links can get borked at once.
Diversify, is what I'm saying.

The other thing I'm saying is that I should read time stamps on posts and be less of an idiot.
Fat chance.

The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" has had a post or two made about a few of the covers.

I don't personally like those kinds of posts. What they usually indicate is someone popping some obscure string into Google, and then posting the first N results.

I skimmed the covers tag to find these:
* "Perfect Day," by Lou Reed.
* "Ignition (Remix)," by R. Kelly.
* "Just Like Honey," by the Jesus and Mary Chain.
* "Friday the 13th" by Thelonious Monk.
* "Suzanne," by Leonard Cohen.
* "Hava Nagila."
* "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen.
* "All Along the Watchtower" by Bob Dylan, and a earlier post.

Well, if we all liked the same thing, think of the oatmeal shortage.

I did a "different playable tracks of bohemian rhapsody" post, but that was different parts of the same thing, not different versions..

Only a few in the post itself, but people kept adding to this Love Will Tear Us Apart post. I still think the Evelyn Evelyn version is the best I've heard.

This can be true. However, I've done similar things in the past, and generally what happens actually is that I encounter something really cool, then find as many instances of it as possible, curate them, selecting the most interesting/best to post.

I did this one about snowflakes a while ago. Though while it had an overarching theme, I suppose like snowflakes, each was a little different in its own way.
A special shout out to the mods, for letting that one stand, in spite of the grarr it initially inspired.

Snowflake Bentley is a state hero in a place that doesn't care much for hero worship. I loved that post.

Some of those clips are prolly gone, but newer copies of each one have no doubt appeared since.
