Hello! Any Mefites also Alpha.net members? October 4, 2012 8:02 AM Subscribe
So, who is a Mefite and also a subscriber (or developer) over at App.net?
I am here (as you can tell) and there, and go by Faintdreams at both locations.
I was just wondering who else might also fit into the thin slice of technical Venn?
A refactoring of the subscription system and the release of Netbot (an Alpha mobile client from the makers of Tapbot), has caused a mini surge in activity over at App.net.
If you too are over there, feel free to find me and say 'ello'.
::waves::
I wonder if this could be a social thing for profiles.

I actually got half-way into adding it to the social widget request on the wiki, then realized I needed an account to edit and got distracted by a groundhog out my window.

So, is the content at App.Net actually worth it? Ideological issues aside, why would I want to join it over, say, Google+?

phirephoenix. So far I've just been piping stuff from Twitter, but since the new APIs killed Twitter triggers on IFTTT I'll have to migrate to Netbot or something.

Yeah, someone could suggest it as a social site on the wiki. I think it's something we'd need to discuss. I can't think of any other social sites in the list that require a fee. (Luckily MetaFilter isn't in the list of social sites.)

pb: "Luckily MetaFilter isn't in the list of social sites."
This is some serious "park on a driveway, drive on a parkway" stuff for me, pb.

Netbot (an Alpha mobile client from the makers of Tapbot)
Netbot, an Alpha mobile client from Tapbots, makers of the Twitter client Tweetbot. It is very much Tweetbot for App.net.
I signed up when it was in its pre-funded stage. I hope it sticks around, but I also hope I can get an interesting timeline going, and not just a bunch of tech guys talking about App.net. Still trying.

I'm @jackmottram on App.net.
I'm also ^jackmottram on Tent, which is arguably a more interesting alternative to Twitter than App.net.
