Help me find this word game! June 19, 2012 8:50 PM Subscribe
I'm looking for a Metafilter post about a multiplayer boggle-like game. You compete against other players, and the game resets every 24 hours. The game also gives you a list of how many words of each letters you have left. There's also a chat room. I can't remember the name of the game and can't find the post anywhere - help?
It's not that - the board was larger and everyone played at once instead of there being individual games.

And while searching for a post on that, I found this one on Babble, which sounds even more like your description.

That definitely sounds like Babble. It's a lot of fun, but pretty difficult to finish the puzzles. There's a lifetime membership fee that will unlock the words available for each tile, and will let you know how many words the daily puzzle has. It's a good way to chill out for a while, and they've got a pretty nice and welcoming chatroom scrolling alongside the puzzle.

Agree with donnagirl and Ghidorah. You're thinking of Babble, which I found through Metafilter.
Also, WEboggle changed its name to Wordsplay after a letter from Boggle a few years ago.
Why yes, I do like word games. Why do you ask?

Since it is probably not the answer you are looking for, this is going to be totally off-subject, but I wrote the original WEBoggle that donnagirl is referring to. It was a proof-of-concept AJAX-before-it-had-a-name project, and as such it played really really poorly with my webhost. I open sourced it and shut it down and the guy who took over for me renamed it to Wordsplay as Measured mentioned. I'm not sure if weboggle.info is at all related to my original code, or if it just took the name. The about page claims it was developed in Australia.
Anyhow, that's my tiny Internet claim to fame.

This was also the closest answer to an AskMe I posted a few months back. I am still looking for an iOS version of this kind of game if anyone knows of one.

yellowbinder, you might like WordsWorth. It's not exactly the same, but the concept is very Boggle-like.

I too love WEBoggle and have played a lot. It's the source of many comments like, "dinner's ready? Ok. I'll be there in one minute and 36 seconds..." Thanks Plutor!
