Music player not playing May 2, 2012 9:10 AM Subscribe
Some of the music players on mefi music have a strange grey bit where the line goes when play is clicked and don't play when I click play.
In case you are confused, here is a screengrab:
The bottom two are what I am talking about.
It sometimes happens when I click to the page with the player on, and refresh seems to cure it, and sometimes on the music front page.
Using FF11 on winxp.

If this happens for you constantly you might take a look at your browser setup and see if anything could be interfering with loading pieces of the site. Do you have any plugins that intercept JavaScript? AdBlock and NoScript can, but there are dozens of others. You might take a look at your plugins and see if there's something there that could be causing problems.

Yeah, various noscript/adblock/ghostery. Strange that it only happens on some of the players and not all though?
How would I check against other plug-ins? Noscript is off for mefi.

Yeah, that is strange. Especially if it doesn't happen consistently with the same player. That makes me think there's something that could be interfering. I don't know how to check various plugins beyond selectively disabling them for a time. Try disabling ghostery for a while. If it still happens, try disabling another one.
There's a Flash component of the player for Firefox—maybe a Flash update would help? Are you running FlashBlock? That could be throwing things off.

I tried allowing stuff in Ghostery but still it happened. Using FF Inspect element -
on the "good" players: div#play_time6239.jp-play-time
on the "bad" players : div#interface6240.jp-interface
I don't know if this is any help though ;)

Here is a strange thing:
I opened the music page and those on the 26/25/24 april are grey. I refresh, and those on the 19/18/17 april are grey. Another refresh and it is the same 19/18/17 ones. I close and re-open and it is back to the 26/25/24 ones.
how bizarre!
