Ride that Podcast Shownotes Pony? April 19, 2012 11:55 AM Subscribe
Pony Request: Can we include the podcast shownotes in the podcast RSS feed?
I listen to the podcast using Instacast HD for ipad. It is a great podcast client that comes with a built in web-browser to let you click on shownote links while you are listening to a podcast. Unfortunately, the metafilter podcast does not include the podcast shownotes in its feed. Could we fix this so that the podcast shownotes show up in instacast?
To illustrate what I mean - ATM in instacast, the mefi podcast looks like this wheras podcasts with included shownotes are look like this
Since the metafilter podcast is all about the included links, and the shownotes are already produced with links already for the site, this seems like it would be a simple thing to improve the podcast feed so that it included the shownotes and showed up nicely in instacast? So, pony?

Does it work on the first ten or so shows from 2007-2008? I used to put all the notes in there as HTML. If it does, I can just resume copying/pasting the metatalk notes in there.

I just checked - yeah, the notes from those first few podcasts work (though there are no linebreaks so it is a little jumbled). If you could start doing that again though it would be a great!

I wonder if there's any impact on bandwidth.
Would it help to include a link to the specific podcast, rather than to the podcast subsite?
HTML-wise, using <li> bullets might be an improvement.

It's coming out of Feedburner, so I doubt anyone would care.
