"You've hit your favorites limit for the day" - I have favorited 16 comments today. Nothing I've tried (cookies, etc.) has fixed it.
Anyone else having this problem? (Previously)
16 favorites in a day, and not a one for me?

I accidentally followed the link in the "new Metatalk post" email we get to the Previously thread instead of this one and was just about ready to start shouting at people for going so goddam ape-wild in the thread before anyone could properly answer mrgrimm's question until I realized what I was looking at.

Explained a slightly different way: if you try to add a favorite now, the server counts how many you've added in the 24 hours immediately preceding now. If that's 100 or more, no soup for you!

When we put the 100/day limit in place it was with the intention of that being a crazy high limit that almost nobody would ever run into and that the folks who did would only run into on odd one-off occasions. While I sympathize with your frustration, this is not something we see as needing fixing at all and I'd suggest maybe just recalibrating your fave-o-meter a little if it's an ongoing point of annoyance to hit that limit.

Sorry zarq, we discussed this today and we're comfortable with where the upper limit is. The limit is within a 24 hour time period, so it's really more of a rate-limiter than absolute limit on the number of favorites you can hand out. It's there to keep people from messing around by adding favorites to every comment or something. A few people are going to bump into the rate limit from time to time, but we don't feel like it's worth stretching the limit.
On preview, yeah.

Comments. Why say the same thing when someone else says it perfectly? That's what favorites are partly for, as a substitute for pointless supporting comments with a quote and "hear hear" or "amen."

and fwiw, I would certainly welcome a higher daily limit. I think that the current policy discriminates against users who *read* a lot of comments, and that's something that should be encouraged (cuz lord knows a shitload of people post comments without reading the full thread).

Reading lots of comments is super great. I read a ton of comments every day too. At the point where you're favoriting comments liberally enough that you're hitting the daily limit, my suggestion would not be to read less comments but to just scale back a little bit the threshold for favoriting if hitting the limit is something that bugs you. Again, it's intended as a really high outlier value as it is. Consider it just some neutral automated feedback that your faving rate is maybe on the high side.

Worth noting that it's not just comments.
Part of what I've been doing over the last 12 months is reviewing various member's FPP histories. I look at what they've posted to the Gray, Green and Blue and favorite those posts whose content I would like to either return to when I have time, or want to keep on file somewhere. While commuting, I then go back and review.
I'm guessing most people do not do that.
