Achievement Unlocked! January 11, 2012 2:49 PM   Subscribe

At the end of a three-week funding drive, MefightClub has collected $4444.44 dollars (gamers to the end!) for our 2011 donation to the Child's Play charity, which delivers games to sick kids in hospitals. Well played, Mefighters!

This year, as last, we gave ourselves a few weeks to do it, but we started a bit late this time so we're just wrapping up. Thanks to everyone who donated, and if anyone who missed out feels like kicking a few tax-deductible (if you're American) dollars in to help out sick kids, well, that'd be a right neighborly thing to do.

Oh man. I haven't been on mfc in months. :(

I'll make sure I kick in some dough, but I really wish I had seen this in December before I saw my credit card balance.

That's OK -- I wrote '$X dollars', after which I gently palmed my face.

Gamers like fours? This is a thing?

Nah, it was just people having fun gaming the donations before the deadline, trying to get a nice, memorable number for the final total. And 6 fours in a row is pretty much a critical hit!

Herrdoktor, all this doodage makes me think maybe you're pretending you're not a Prinny. It's not working, though, you haven't tricked anyone.

Awesome work, guys, and I'm taking this as my regular reminder that I really need to join MefightClub. Maybe next time I can contribute!

There are cheaper, more fulfilling ways to get games and DVDs into the hands of kids at children's hospitals. Put a box with a sign on it in the office of your kid's school. You will find yourself emptying it several times over the course of a month; easily 300 discs. We had kids actually turn in their favorite games and DVDs; not just the bleh.

I dunno, I think we're all feeling pretty fulfilled. But you know, thanks for the advice and all.

The nice thing about donating money is that it's fungible. Not much use collecting a box full of games if the hospital still can't afford the console to allow anyone to play them.
