Interesting Mefite Blogs November 1, 2011 5:28 AM   Subscribe

Which interesting Mefite blogs do you follow? I know of some: blort, languagehat and bibliodyssey. Tell me more!

If languagehat has gone, does he still count as "MeFi's own"? Or maybe "former MF member"? What is the correct protocol here?
posted by Meatbomb at 5:53 AM on November 1, 2011

languagehat is still a member. He's just not posting these days, and has said that he'll only be visible on the Green. Which doesn't answer your question, of course. "Former MeFite" sounds right when it applies to the individual in question.

There's a blog called Mefi User Sites that describes some of the sites kept by Mefi Users. I started it, but I lost the password, but not before giving it to jessamyn and not on display, who seem to have kept it alive.

Here are one hundred random MeFite sites, many of which are blogs. Although, the first time I used that link, this was my list. It didn't seem so random at the time.

He's not gone, he's just dormant. He's a volcano.

The User Sites blog is great, yeah, and the hundred random mefites thing gman listed is fun as well.

There was a great big tumblrfest middle of last year if you want to go browsing for mefite blogs that way.

So... you need to ask your question about languagehat on the green then..?

The correct protocol is not to call someone a "former member" if they've posted within the past week.

Longform journalism
Random Tumblr

With the demise of gReader sharing I realise that my favourite mefi blog, which coicides with my favourite level of social obligation, happens to be metafilter itself. I don't have to say anything, and I don't so much in recent times, and I don't have to stay for long and I can hook into a wide variety of links or just watch fighty arguments if I want. It's really got a lot to offer. Goodonya.

I once seriously considered exactly that idea: start a blog for the sole purpose of making aperiodic updates apologizing for the lack of updates.
