Pony Request: Clickable calendar dates (on the blue)
I often wish that instead of hitting the "older posts" link at the bottom of the page I could just click the date associated with the links down there.
Like today I wanted to see what was posted last Friday (the 14th). I (again) checked the "October 14" text wondering if it was a link that would send me to a page of all posts which occurred that day.
As I mentioned earlier "older posts" does it, but it would be nice to just have all the posts for any particular date all on the same page.

You can get to it if you follow the URL structure in the sidebar for posts ten years ago or whatever.

But I think what you are asking for is all posts that happened on any October 14th? Or does this do it?
I think part of the thing may be that days are fungible and somewhat artificial since we have people in a bunch of different timezones so we don't think much about slicing posts up like that.

cortex: You know it's funny, but I'm not sure I've ever actually noticed the "archives" link up there. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Maybe put a "<--- use this MustardTent" next to it for me?
jessamyn: Yeah, I'm just looking for a particular day like Oct 14, 2011. Your link is exactly what I was talking about. So, the code is in place for this feature -- any chance of putting it in as a user-friendly link instead of typing it out?
BTW: This is what I love about this place -- great responses from the mods in minutes. Thanks guys. If the link dealio doesn't happen it's cool cause now I'm a super user.
BTWBTW: Since I've now posted a pony request I feel like a full-fledged MeFite (you know, pronounced me-fight, the way it shoud be).

you don't need to type the whole address out. Just click on one of the years, then adjust the date accordingly in the address bar.
although for pony-purposes, this isn't very obvious and someone else trying to do the same thing wouldn't likely figure it out unless they found this MeTa thread.

VERY disappointed that http://www.metafilter.com/daily.mefi/10/17/2023 isn't showing me the future.

That's not pb's fault, though. If it weren't for that huge meteor impact in '21, you'd be seeing it right now. Can't really forecast an extinction event like that.

Even then, FutuRRS feeds get really unreliable from 2018 on after President Mecha-Pawlenty passes the Content Syndication Is Theft Act and nukes Dave Winer's compound from orbit.

I don't know that we've ever really had a use case where "exactly and only one day's posts" has been a key view. If you're just reading back a day or two, the older links and the fuss of having to remember you're in the middle of a day's posts seems reasonable; if you're looking at older stuff, the Archives is pretty much the way to go regardless.
