Two good peas in a pod October 11, 2011 7:09 PM Subscribe
I'd like to thank peagood for writing two sidebar-worthy treatises on completely different topics in the space of eight days.
September 28: "I am formerly a jeweler. I sold a lot of pearls. Miles of pearls.... Here is how anyone can choose a nice strand of pearls."
October 5: "I did work as a technical reviewer on a baby, toddler and preschooler book for sleep issues back in 2006, where I learned things that did indeed help my kid."
I read these one after the other in reverse order, and when I got to the end of the comment on pearls and saw the name peagood my mind was blown.
So thanks.

I once had a sidebar.

"...we ask one question when we talk about interactions with other moms: "Can you say cocksucker in front of her?"..."
I hereby dub this the PCS test.

I got sidebarred once because I couldn't figure out the answer to a question on Cat merchandise; someone came in and solved it right quick. I think Jessamyn may have done it just to save my sanity.

I got sidebarred once because cortex asked me a question and I answered it, so I think he was just really lonely.

I'm sure that's the case.
Also - isn't cortex offline today? We should probably be making fun of him. What a doofus.

I was cutting onions for a minute there, but then I scrolled down.
I actually just realized this myself, and was coming over to the gray to post for the first time, wanting to know how I can thank you all.
Thank you in giant black letters with shadows coming out.
Thank you, for giving me an outlet for my experience.
For the record, I'm currently working in a school in a position I can't quite name, as well working to provide stock photos for recipes for a website that will be relaunching soon.
Going back in time, in case it should come up in the future, my CV:
(soon to be writing for an online parenting magazine about the work I do in school and more technical reviewing)
Resourcing and Researching for a parenting magazine
Working in a School
Technical Reviewer
Professional Handwriter for an Ad Campaign
Props Rentals for Movies
Props Building for Movies/TV
Vintage Shopkeeper
Jeweller/Antique Dealer
Head of Jewellery, Couture, Timepieces and Objet de Vertu department at Auction House
(Teacher for Adult Ed Courses in related subjects at ROM)
Jeweller (at High-End jewellery store, teaching POS systems and specializing in Estate Jewellery)
Jewellery/Antique Salesperson at high-end antique shop
Office Administrative Assistant
Nanny/Caregiver
Manager of Consignment Clothing Store
Antique Dealer specializing in Vintage Clothing
Drycleaner Hotel Accounts Rep.
Various positions at drycleaners
Maid in a seedy motel
Clown at Birthday Parties
Waitress at another Ice Cream/Soda Shop
Retail Department store help
Oscar the Grouch at Department Store Kid Events
Waitress at an Ice Cream/Soda Shop
the Easter Bunny at a Candy Store
But it seems there aren't that many questions about what it's like to be the Easter Bunny.
Thanks again, all.

Thanks again, all (or most) of you. Possibly due to this, I had a dream about AskMeFi on Saturday night. In it I asked about caring for a suede purse, specifying the type of answer I did not need (that carrying a suede purse in winter is silly, because it's always going to get wet, so don't). When the first response gave exactly that answer, I replied only "No." Then a mod stepped in saying that the question would "be left to moulder" and I thought it was very kind of them to use the Canadian spelling just for me.
For the record, IRL I got the applesauce off my purse yesterday by letting it dry and then brushing it off with a clean, dry scrub brush. And then I remembered the dream, and that I forgot to add to my CV here that I also wrote for a frivolous shopping website for a bit, and so popped back in to see what was going on. *shakes head* Then I got to wondering who Zach Galifianakis is, and then, if this is where I got the idea to do a sexy Crankshaft Halloween costume, and then I got distracted and am now scooting safely back over to the green where I think I understand things better.
