Oh, hooray! And a beautiful name, too.
Zizzle, I would SO have loved to meet you last week, but between my crushing anxiety and, well, the fact that it would have been on September 14 (we left a day early), I see that it was not to be. But man, I wish I would have thought more about the interaction you and I shared (DiaperGate 2011), because it might have helped me remember this amazing community more acutely when I needed it.
Dear MeFites: thanks for celebrating life and reminding me of it at every possible chance. We need that.

Yay Zizzlette! Zizzlita. Hmm.
Rosalie is a lovely name.
From Chattanooga to good ol' Bogalusa
You can hear her fine...
Nah. Lemme try again:
As you walk through this world Rosalie
Each step is one closer to me...
Better, but not quite.
Rosalie my darling, Rosalie my dream...
Urgh. No thanks.
Aha!
Nailed it.

Congrats to zizzle, daddy zizzle, toddler zizzle, and now Rosalie! I'm so glad you made it! When I read that anon question I just wanted to give the asker a great big gentle hug, pat your hair and lean over to say some quiet "c'mon get out of there words."

Fantastic news -- especially to anyone who, like me, was left cringing and squirming in their chair after reading the anonymous askme and just prayed and wished and hoped that the baby would come soon.
Something I didn't contribute to that thread -- because I certainly understood that smart-assery might not have helped the situation -- was that I, myself, was a late baby. And my mother has managed to remind me of that pretty much on and off for 36+ years. So you've got that to old over her head (Somehow my mother has also managed to do this in a way that makes me feel, despite the discomfort I may have caused, that I was totally loved, which is a neat trick.)

Mr. Punk, I believe you may be looking for "Everything Merges With the Night" by Brian Eno. To wit:
Rosalie, I've been waiting all evening
possiby years, I don't know -
counting the passing hours,
everything merges with the night.
....other verses, one of which mentions September....
Rosalie, we've been talking all summer
picking the straw from my clothes
see how the breeze has softened
everything pauses in the night

Thank you, everyone!
If you're interested in more of the story, I had an 8 hour labor, 6 hours of pushing if you count from pushing at the peaks, or 4 hours of pushing if you count from pushing with every contraction. Little miss appeared to have done quite the yoga or acrobatic maneuver has she had her right hand on her left her shoulder and managed to loop her insanely long cord twice around her body.
I don't think I could have repeated the phrase, "I can't do it!" any more than I did. And then I did it. And without accruing significant injuries in significant pages. Go me! I AM A SUPERSTAR!
Poor Dr.E missed the birth as older brother had a hard time listening to mom scream, so he took the boy out to breakfast and then to the park and of course his phone died so they didn't come back for quite awhile after she was born. Dad has no regrets. He had an important job, and our wrangler for the boy wouldn't have been able to get up here in time anyway. Though she is here now and brought us food and is off with Dr.E getting some well earned Indian food. Older brother is napping after a very long night.
We're all happy, healthy, and probably not so terribly wise in our current stupor. But, hey, two out of three ain't bad --- and we get to keep a baby.
Will post pics once they are off the camera and on the web. But that's Dr.E's job, so bug him if you'd rather not wait. :)

Little does she know that I have a 50% share in this kid, and expect a good rate of return on my investment.
(OK, let's be honest; my total contribution was some subpar genetic material and getting the big one out of the house while the midwives did their thing.)
