Deck ad not rendering properly in threads, in Firefox 4.01 on Mac for logged out users.
When a user is using Firefox on Mac, and not logged in, the Deck ad covers the initial comments in every thread. Screenshots: 1, 2 (the latter shows the browser version I'm using.) Unless I missed it, there's no option to close the ad for logged out users.
It does render properly in Safari version 5.1.
I shut off greasemonkey to confirm it wasn't a random script issue.

Red/Blue glasses? MeFi needs to upgrade to RealD!

Someone else reported this as well, we may need to block that specific ad moving forward.

Just to clear things up, this isn't a deck ad, it's a Google ad, but I'm on a new Google system and it apparently has bugs. This only happens for people with Firefox on a mac and only sometimes. Me and pb can't reproduce the bug.

Just for a data point, if logged out, it appears on every thread on the Blue that I click on. And always the same L'Oreal ad.

I don't leave my work computer logged in to any sites where I have personal logins.

I do this on a regular basis, usually when I'm trying to click the MeFi Mail icon and I miss.
Though I guess you're probably referring to people who log out on purpose, right?

People using shared computers? Do people even share computers anymore?

We just made a change that should fix this up. Thanks for the report. We thought it was that one ad too, but it was any Flash ad coming from Google.

Yeah, yeah. We all remember your FPP re: the taxonomy of enormous floating cocks in Second Life. Nice try, though.

Is there a way to permanently turn off the deck ads, so I don't have to do it each time I log on?
PayPal Matt about $2.40US every month, or so.

No, we don't offer a way to do that. You could whip up a Greasemonkey script or Styleish style to hide it if you'd like. The div for the ad has a consistant ID.

Yeah, the ad block between the question and the more inside in AskMe is really pretty terrible. Matching the color scheme exactly makes it hard to see where the content ends and the ads begin.

I don't do it on purpose. MeFi logs me out once or twice a day. It's weird, but not a big deal.

That happens to me, too, deborah. Mostly on AskMe. It doesn't happen often enough that I've been able to pin down what the sequence of events is that leads to the logging-out yet, though.

I thought it was perhaps a browser setting, but MeFi is the only site that does it. But like I said, no big deal.

Yeah, same here - if I can't even figure out when it happens, I can't really expect anyone to figure out why. It's only on AskMe that it happens to me.

Or possibly it is a bug.
