Remember Aardvark? Goodbye Aardvark. Aardvark will be shutting down at the end of September.
No word on where you're supposed to go to get an immediate, wrong, off topic and stupid answer from people who are spying on you

I remember Aardvark. I wish they would update it so it works with newer versions of Firefox. Nothing else seems to have the "Isolate" command, which removes everything but the div that you're currently hovering over. So great for playing flash games that use the mouse, without having to worry about scrolling around by accident.
I have no idea what this other Aardvark is, though. Are you on my lawn, boy? Because if so, you know what that means.

They're another Q&A site which, if you'd clicked the links, explains that it was the subject of a MeTa post some time ago.

Oh I clicked the links. I saw that there was a previous MeTa talking about how AskMe and Aardvark are similar, but that leaves me no less confused as to what that currently has to do with this site.

Eideteker, this link claims to have done just that.

It's another site doing nominally a similar thing to AskMe and Google decided it wasn't viable. There are many angles that are MeFi-related, to my mind.

This site and that site are similar. That is what that site has to do with this site.
I can type slower if that would help.

After September 30, there will be no way to retrieve your data, as shortly after that we will delete everything permanently.
Yeah, that's Google's general dumbass approach to the history of the things they acquire and then shut down. I'm sure the Archive Team will be along shortly to clean up Google's mess.

I've been a member since the early days, and get a question by email about once a week. The tagging system is impressive; nowadays, almost every question I get is one I'll know the answer to off the top of my head.
But as an asker, it's just not as useful as AskMe, and I don't think any question sites are. Lots of people in my world are still in love with Quora, and for the life of me I can't figure out why. Whenever someone links a Quora thread, it just seems like an unnavigable mess of non-answers and chatfilter.

I just downloaded FF6.0.1 Won't someone think of all the little FFs in between?

Are there espers in that one, or were they phased out after FF6?

Well, with the new update policy, you can't blame the folks doing the add-ons for being progressive :)
It claims to work with versions up to the 7 beta. I have 6.0.1 myself and am not having any problems, so far as I know.

Yeah, they should totally follow the Sun model of buying things that lose money hand over fist, keeping them running in a half-arsed fashion, going broke, and being bought by Oracle.

Or, you know, just keep the archive available on a server somewhere so the history is available to the net. But it's ok, like I said, someone else will probably be along to once again clean up their mess.

I wouldn't really care as much even if Mozilla did something cartoonish and silly like naming each version after an adjective-modified animal. I just wish it wouldn't try pushing upgrades from stable versions (5 or 6) to beta versions (7). That's stupid and bad.
