If they had a substitute intern when he was out sick, that person could be a Sub Dom.

Pretty sure I stole that broccoli recipe from elsewhere in AskMe, but I must not have favorited the comment because I can't find it now.

Enchanted Forest is awesome! Be sure to watch the movie in the Western town. The place was all made by this one guy and his family. It's a total DIY labour of love. Also, I'm not huge into amusement park stuff, but I thought the rides were pretty great.

Mondays seem to be peoples most hated day of the week and in certain cases I’ve learned, push them into doing crazy things. Sure, I’m only eighteen but I don’t understand why some Mefi users feel the need to take out their “start of the work week” anger by posting things in MetaTalk that make themselves look foolish. It doesn’t make sense to me at all, but I guess they are blinded by their rage? The best part of all this in my opinion, is post freakout when the rage subsides and the user is left standing amidst the rubble of their already shell- ridden online reputation and they have the audacity to point fingers at someone else. Let’s put this plain and simple, if you don’t like it, you can leave.
Wow, Dom has some righteous anger going on over there at the intern blog.

This isn't me being angry at all, I honestly just can't believe that some people don't think through the outcome of their posts in MetaTalk a little more. It was typed in a completely calm manner, and I was intending it to be read the same way.
Yeah, I read that entry and wondered how heartfelt the entry was, and how much was him parroting something he heard someone else say.
That entry was most definitely all my thoughts, I'm not parroting something that I heard. Each day I have a MetaTalk tab open in my browser that I am checking periodically, so that I can see if any new posts have been made. I enjoy reading the posts, and observing how the community acts and responds to complaints, bugs, etc. Monday's thread just surprised me a little bit because I haven't seen anything like it directed towards cortex, jessamyn or pb before.

Hey, thanks for the nice mention of No Poster Girl, jessamyn! Yes, the cats are Mingus, Coltrane, and Bootsy Collins. And my handle is JOSS-el-meow. Like Jocelyn, just take the end off.
It's funny how my situation has become so totally normal. I've had seven years to get used to it, and I sort of forget sometimes that most people can sit up. I really am pretty happy, honestly - I have a wonderfully supportive husband, great friends I get to visit with all day online, and a big, terrific family. Life would be a lot poorer without those things, and I'd honestly rather be sick and have them than well and have none of them.

Re: Matt's comment which went something like "CS departments teach you very low-level stuff so you'll be able to do anything". Well, not only that, they're really trying to give you a solid foundation so you'll end up actually understanding what you'll end up doing every day on a really deep level. This is in some part due to the law of leaky abstractions, coined by Joel Spolsky, which states that the underlying complexity of any abstraction cannot always be ignored.
