I'd switch to Opera except MeFi doesn't look right March 7, 2002 6:57 PM Subscribe
I'm trying to see if Opera for Mac might be something to switch to. But, at least in Mefi/Metatalk, my font Metafilter font preferences, while they seem to register in "Customize" Mefi, do not take hold. Is there something in Opera: I can't get the font smaller; and there's too much space between lines of text. Is there something I'm not adjusting in OPERA?
Well, I think something improved, but the spacing is still too wide. In any case, Mefi looks better on IE for Mac. I'll keep Opera for those long web pages such as Chowhound.com, which take forever to load on IE.

you can't adjust the line height. I'll have to give it a try myself in opera/mac and see how bad it is.

Opera for Mac really isn't up to the standards of its PC counterpart yet.

Quick before lights out, Paris: if you haven't already tried it, check out iCab.

Actually, after the lights went out. Tried iCab also. It's kind of cute, but not very reassuring. Perhaps it would be valuable on some handheld device?

There are a few settings you might want to check. First, go to Preferences - History and Cache...make sure "Always" is checked under Check Modified. Next, under Privacy, enable your cookies (they come disabled by default in the Linux version) and uncheck "Throw away new cookies on exit." Under Page Style make sure "Author Mode by Default" is checked.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Hope something helps.
