Hey Los Angeles West Siders, it's been a while, how about we have a few drinks?

I know I haven't called, but things have been busy, maybe we should get together sometime and grab a drink or two?

We've done meetups on the eastside before, and last I recall we had some discussion about possible venues, maybe even turtle racing, but things may not have become concrete.

I propose something this upcoming weekend (March 5th or 6th) and in a location with beer, seating, and food. I say this entirely selfishly and because I know I will be traveling on and off for the rest of March.

Maybe something at the Library Alehouse?

Can't do Sunday; could do Saturday. Keep meaning to have a lunchy meetup at Mayura, a great indian spot at Motor and Venice.

Saturday works better for me; the Alehouse looks pretty great!

Would any other eastsiders like to carpool? Maybe we can hire a charter bus...

Well, if folks are interested, I could call about getting some tables at the Alehouse, I think if there is a solid 8 of us going to show, it would justify a heads up for them.

If we agree on saturday, I am willing also to just get there around 4pm and setup camp.

Eastsiders willing to brave it, the 33/333[pdf] stops about 3 blocks away.

Consider me there, and glad we're doing it on Saturday. I don't even want to think about what traffic will be like on Sunday (then again, this is my first year in LA... maybe it's not a horrible clusterfuck.)

Just called the alehouse and left a vm about grabbing space on the patio on saturday afternoon. It may rain this weekend, but they have outdoor heaters and it is covered (and that may mean we will have the patio to ourselves)

Traffic will be a ghost of a breeze on Sunday, except for one little mile-long stretch in Hollywood. Everyone else sits at home (or at their friend's home) the whole time and watches the show.

So I never heard back from the Alehouse about holding a space, so I am just going to setup camp at 4pm and look as fearsome as possible. It is supposed to rain tomorrow so if folks have some jackets, we may be able to get plenty of space on their covered patio (with heaters).

LA west siders--I don't think klangklangston was automatically in the mix for this meetup, but I can guarantee he WON'T be there. He fell off his bike last night and broke his hip. Not just a little. He's in UCLA Med Center getting going into surgery 7 am PST.

I'm his pops back in Michigan & got a call about 3 AM PST with this news.

If nothing else, hoist an ale in his honor. If you want any details you can MeMail me and I'll respond.

Just talked to klang's s.o.; after his hip surgery, he gets to go another round with elbow surgery b/c apparently breaking his hip was just not enough. Email is a great way to stay in touch with him--or Amy at least--for now.

So they won't seat us at the patio until the entire party shows up, and the bar space is already crowded (hey thanks for not returning my calls alehouse jerks)

I'm the only one here and I'm going to suggest we move to a more meetup friendly location.

Klang said you could move the party up to the UCLA Ronny Reagan Medical Center if you want, but it could have been the morphine drip & Dilaudid talking. He's got a titanium screw in his hip now and by Monday he'll have a matching set in his elbow.

Lo, the 310 has been rocked. And we got a new MeFite out of it, too. It was great to see everyone, really a bummer to hear that klang's laid up, and I even got to hear a disturbing story about butter and cheap microwave ovens from mrzarquon.
