GitHub in social apps? January 8, 2010 10:19 AM Subscribe
Can we have GitHub added to the social apps list? I bet there's a good number of Mefites sharing code over there.
In case anyone's wondering, I also posted this request on the wiki page.

(I'm sharing code over there, for instance)

Might do Launchpad while you're at it.
And bitbucket, for us mercurial users.

Is this the place where I can admit I'm not a fan of git? I keep doing something that makes the repository look like we haven't done any work in a month. How is that possible?

Just a reminder—if you submit a suggestion please take a look at the rules for submitting on the wiki page. We'd like to see a working profile page at the service to make sure it's eligible.

I wish I understood how it worked. It totally mystifies me, and there are a couple of projects there that I'd love to be able to get at some actual code to play with, if I understood how.

stavros: For theory, the Pro Git book, & for details, this git cheatsheet helped me, & the relevant sections are "Basic Repository" & "Individual Developer." To get a copy of a repository - history & all - git clone is what you want, with the "git://github.com/..." url near the top of the github project page.
Ah - you're on Windows? You probably want msysgit. Github's old help wiki (which is being phased out) is currently more helpful than their new page.
