Is it just me, or has Cool Tools ganked the color scheme from the blue?
Matt was singing about the colors in the shower while Kevin Kelly was over visiting his roommate. Unfortunately for Matt, he forgot to copyright the colors.

I suppose if you use the plain theme on MeFi (yay white background!) it does look a little similar, color-wise. But no need for pitchforks.
Well... I personally have a need for pitchforks for some yardwork, so any MeFites in the PacNW are welcome to bring 'em over. Those woodchips aren't going to spread themselves!

Aside from moving hay, when are pitchforks more useful than a shovel? You never see zombies being decapitated with pitchforks.

Yes, bludgeoning is better against Undead, but piercing gives you a better chance to crit when you aren't fighting undead. It's situational, really.

The piercing aspect of a pitchfork gives you a greater effectiveness against an armored foe, which is why they became so popular in uprisings.

Easier to carry when on rampage. They also have a good balance when you're pivoting to skewer the attacker behind you and smack or spank the one in front of you.
Shovels are heavier at the spoon end, which makes it harder to wave them around. They can have a sharp edge, but the flat part makes them clumsy when you're on the attack, mainly due to wind resistance. Really, if you're going to bludgeon someone, you'd be better off with a hammer. You have to get closer, but you can move pretty fast.
Imagine running toward that zombie with the shovel. Mostly they'll get the wind knocked out of them. Then they laugh and keep coming. With the pitchfork, you have lots of pointy bits that are going to get stuck inside, and then you have the advantage. You can pin them to the tree, the barn, or stick the other end of the handle in the ground, haul out your machete, and git'r'done.

Precisely! I literally freaked out, dropped my pants and set my hair on fire when I read #0079a9 and #4cb6d1. Reality shivered like a hammered gong for a moment.
Good thing I had some beer handy. For the fire, and the reality adjustment both. Is there anything beer can't do?
