Sita's Singing in Boston March 12, 2009 4:32 PM Subscribe
The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston will be showing Sita Sings the Blues several times in the next week. Since many Mefites are admirers of the film, this seems like a good excuse for a Meetup. Thoughts?
There was just a pretty epic Meet-up in Cambridge, but I'd be up for another one.

It just feels recent b/c it was so epic. This sounds cool. The 21st or 22d might work for me.

The showing on 21 March is at 10:30am, and the 22 March screening is 11am. Which works for you?

I'd be down, either day.

pxe, you know I'd go, but there'll hafta be food involved to get me up so early on the weekend.

Can we do post-film meet-up at an emporium that specializes in food and/or beverages?

I'm going to a different FPP-related movie on the 22nd. (The FPP)

Thinking about it a little more - the MFA has a cafeteria downstairs that's pretty decent (and not as pricey as the upstairs "café"), but it might be crowded on the weekends. It doesn't seem like this is going to get to epic proportions like the Cambridge Meetup, so we should be ok with one or two tables. We could meet there at about the time the film is scheduled to end. Thoughts?

grapefruitmoon (and Spatch): The cafeteria sounds like a good idea. That area is surprisingly barren for mid-price restaurants -- there's either the cafeteria and Bolocos or fancy-ass places.
Do you want to try for 21 March, meet up in the cafeteria after the movie?

Sounds good to me. What time will the movie ostensibly end?
(Also, I have an MFA membership. I don't know how disgruntled the cafeteria workers would be if I passed it around so *everyone* could get 15% off of their comestibles in the cafeteria, but I could always try.)

The movie's an hour and a half long, so it would get out at noonish.
I wonder if my 'GBH discount would help get a discount on anything...

After further review, this is not a thing I can do. But enjoy!

Epic in Cambridge? What did I miss? No one tells me anything. :(
This sounds good; I'll check my schedule.

Melismata: There was a meeting in Porter Sq. last month that had 20+ MeFites. It was, indeed, epic.
No worries, this one will be AWESOME, if not epic.
Saturday at noon! I'll be there! I'm not going to the film, I'll be in the cafeteria downstairs. I've also got two free tix to the museum if anyone wants 'em.

oh, I might come, too! if not for the movie, then to swing by for lunch. (I can get in free, because I am a Patroness of the Arts).

I was there around 1215, I didn't see anyone even vaguely MeFi-ish. I put a sign on my hat (albeit a small sign) and waited for a bit, then I came home.
So yeah, WHERE WERE YOU?!

Golly! Sorry this didn't come together. In retrospect, the lack of firm RSVPs and the absence of a front-page meetup notice were warning signs.
