While composing an AskMetafilter question about where I might purchase baby clothes, I was told the following:

Kinky Couture

That's some sick, Operation Daisy-Bird style shit! I tried to get offended about it but couldn't, so I thought I'd bring it here in the hopes that someone could.

Seriously though, that feature has the potential to offer up some seriously (hilariously) inappropriate related links.

I'll be offended for you, Mayor Curley.

This is reprehensible!

How's that?

This site went X-rated soon after we kicked out all the righties. Now we're a half-step from being a porn site and internet speakeasy. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

An early start really is the key to tightlacing, Mayor Curley.

From what I've seen, he's way ahead of you, AV.

Yeah, Curley's as tightly-laced as anyone I have ever met.

Oh, this is just one of those mixups like when you're putting together a resumé and Clippy's all, "It looks like you're trying to write erotic fiction. Would you like help?"

Good Clippy humor on Wait, Wait this last week. Something about taking Clippy out to be executed gangland-style and Clippy's all "It looks like you're digging a grave! Is this a business grave or a personal grave?"

They clearly are related, dear sir. Simply in the wrong order. Kinky Couture first, need for baby clothes second.

Slashdot thread on the death of Clippy

Even though Clippy's dead, maybe MeFi could buy him real cheap. I think we need him. "It looks like you're starting a flame war. Would you like help?"

I'm outraged!!!! Adjectival phrases ending in "ly" are NOT hyphenated!!! Whom shall we burn for this?!!!

My old Boston-Irish Catholic relatives wish to have a word with you ... Mayor "lace curtain" Curley...

They can drop by house on the Jamaicaway-- the one with the shamrock shutters.

Shh! the conceit of my username is that my heritage is old school English Congregational, but I realize that The Rascal King was cooler than all of those wet blankets combined.

I just met a distant relative, eighty two years old, head of an electrical engineers union and Boston democratic party player for years, he referred to an old family enemy as a "lace curtain cawksuckah and kid filddlin' pehvewt" and I have to say it was the highlight of my year. Dude has stories.

Will someone please think of the children?!?!
did I sound outraged there? Should I have a prop or something? A holy book or maybe a corset? Both? I don't think I'm very good at this...

This is true. You're seeing one arm of Operation Free Association in action.

Actually, I've been really enjoying the hell out of Related Questions, in part because the results vary so much from question to question between helpful and surreal. I spent some time jumping around through it when I was putting together this metafilter bathroom etiquette roundup last week—Related Questions managed to give me some nice links to stuff I wasn't finding with my normal searching, which was pretty great.

It's basically the Oblique Strategies of metafilter.

Listen: it's still a fetish, no matter how "natural" you think it is.
