I wanted to call out a post I like from misteraitch, circa 2003. I just ran across the site (specifically), and would have posted it myself had it not already found its way here five years ago.

In other words: "I was going to post this, and I was real excited about it and put a lot of work into it too, but I just found on searching that it was in fact posted several years earlier, so it would be a double if I went ahead and did it."

Yep, I've been there, too. However, I didn't think to make a MeTa thread about it, so kudos.

I search before I start to compose a post (not that it always prevents me from doubling). No work involved, unless you count this MeTa.

I’m glad you liked the post owhydididoit. There have likewise been several times I’ve thought to post stuff here, only to find that someone else—oftenest vacapinta (a few examples)—beat me to it.

homunculus: sorry, but the Giornale is a closed book now. If I do the blogging thing again it’ll be something different, somewhere else.

I felt much the same when researching Guernica and found this excellent FPP by Homunculus. It only got one comment and no favorites. But it's so damn awesome...daaaaaang!

I swear madamjujujive and I were separated at birth or something and she is the older twin. I constantly stumble across sites that would make an awesome FPP only to find she's beaten me to it by a couple years.
