We want the airwaves... March 19, 2008 7:57 PM Subscribe
I heard this DJ singing the praises of MetaFilter on Atlanta radio this afternoon. She was talking up the site in general, and the alphabetical song lyric post specifically. Who says there's never anything good on the radio?
I suspect, but do not know, that this is a trend with morning radio programs. At work I listen to KZOK here in Seattle, and the DJ's often discuss "human interest" stories that I recognize as originating from Boing Boing, Digg, Reddit, etc. I've yet to hear any stories come from Metafilter, though.
The DJ's are constantly looking things up on the 'net and talking about them on the air.
What could be an easier source of material for starting conversations?

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing, except I only read MeFi, so they are coming here too. Things that I see here also often end up on the afternoon-published free commuter paper here the same day.

Dave FM? I thought these radio stations named as such didn't have DJs... is she just an iPod on shuffle, and the Metafilter song happened to come on?

Yeah, well, when she starts spinning tunes from MetaFilter Music on her show, that's when I'll be impressed...

Alvy, I've noticed this when I'm driving in the afternoon and the awful Jian Gomeshi is on the radio. At least twice lately I've said out loud, "this was on Metafilter a week ago."

This is one of those times we need the IMG tag. Because I would totally mock-up Clear Channel's "Our Leader" billboard.

^ It's missing the first word I thought to look for in your alphabetized list. Here's a hint: if you guess the correct letter, you'll probably guess which word you missed. Now what game am I playing if I ask you to guess the correct letters. Hmmm. If you don't get this you'll probably ... ahh, never mind.
