Mefi music player won't play February 24, 2008 9:23 PM   Subscribe

Can't get the mefi music player to work, even though I just reinstalled flash (it's flash-based, right?). It works on my laptop though, not sure why.

I had it working on my desktop (using Opera) before I blasted my windows install to smithereens and reinstalled. Now I can see the little player thingies but when I press play, no sound is emitted and the little indicator tickmark thing does not move. However, I see a loading bar for the song with corresponding increasing percentage listed. Same behavior on Firefox.

Laptop for some reason has them work just fine on Opera, and not even visible using Firefox.

And I'm talking about playing songs from the front page or for each individual song-thread-thing, not the players that feature a list of several songs.

So... what am I doing wrong? Please help, and it's okay to call me stupid if I am being an idiot here. I know it's gotta be something on my end, I just don't know what.

If you reinstall the flash 9 player and browser plugins, it should work for you, no?

I couldn't get the player to work on some browser or other once. When I went to the Flash website, it prompted me for an update even though I had the latest version installed. It worked after that.

strawberryviagra: is that true? I'm going to have an unhappy client or two if so.

Figured out my problem, it was an audio driver issue. Got it fixed now. Sorry to be a bother. Thank you for your responses.

Feel free to delete if you think it worthy. Who knows though, maybe someone will be confused in the same fashion that I was.

And yeah, youtube videos play. They didn't used to work when embedded in pages (before my reinstall), but now they work, so go figure.

Opera > all, btw. I only use Firefox when I run across the occasional dreaded Opera-hostile website.

It's true - we just discovered a week ago (a few days out from a major launch). There has been some representation made to Adobe - not sure how long those guys take to deal with these issues.

The issue is with version 9.0.115 - if I were you I'd install it and test your site/s.

Update - Matt - the latest Flash Player (as described above) on IE7 can't use MefiMuzak - just so you know.
