Shamelessly self-promote your best lesser-known work...to me?
Comment favorites are pretty much my favorite thing about the blue/green, guiding me like a treasure map to the best stories, jokes, answers and whatnot that the hive has to offer.
Something struck me recently, however. Surely there must be great responses out there where the author came to the party a little late, and the greater community missed said greater comments, leaving a vacuum where many favorites should have been added. The perfect answer to a question, some subject matter expert weighing in on a topic on the blue, or perhaps just a really creative story. Things like that.
Care to share your best that got missed? And if not here, would you at least consider me-fi mailing me? I'd of course promise not to even favorite it if you didn't want it coming to light. (And, apologies if this isn't a first on MeTa but I couldn't find anything too similar in my search.)

If my every contribution here was carved into the Himalayas in lettering 200 metres high, lit by 7000 watt halogen lamps with enormous carved ivory arrows, a mile long pointing them out; if they were tattooed onto the flesh of every newborn child; if they were visible from space - no, fuck it, if they were the only things visible in the night sky from any given point on the planet then I still feel faintly dissatisfied that my message just wasn't getting across.
Having said that though, a guy emailed me the other day to say he liked my Wodehouse pastiche. So that was nice.

There's a lot of great stuff that is pre-favorites.
A lot of Cardoso comments in particular. Offhand, this comment on the varieties of Portuguese fucking comes to mind. I'm sure his best are alcohol-related, though.

Well, a while ago grumblebee asked a question about cultural "dinosaurs and snobs," and I answered with something I liked a lot, but nobody else did, and I've felt the comment was a kind of orphan ever since. So I'm happy to link it now.

I got a lot of email with regards to a comment I made in this thread. You should know before you read the post and comments (if you're reallllllly that interested and really that bored) that all of the comments that crusiera (the person who was called out) made were deleted, but they were all along the lines of "shit shit cock fuck piss boobs shit cock damn fuck cock cock boobs". He really seemed to like four-letter words.

I really thought the Museum of Failed Relationships was an interesting concept, but apparently not many people agreed with me. The bicycle used for a fast getaway and the wedding dress that a woman simply did not put on are just a few examples.

I think my biggest contribution to Metafilter was a combination of the daily front page posts I made for about a year straight back when I was using a different alias, and then the guidelines that described the method I used to make them on my user profile. Unfortunately, due to a change in the popularity of link blogs, my old method is now much more difficult to use... it takes a lot more digging to find quality post fodder than it did when I was using it.
So, in other words, my biggest contribution to the site is no longer valid.

Years before I signed up for MetaFilter, when I was just a lurker and before favorites existed, I used to take screenshots of comments I liked. I kept them in a folder on my hard drive. So when I paid my five bucks, I went back and marked them as favorites. Here's three I remember:
This thread is a great demonstration...
Like a whole elephant made of stupid.
An earnest and insightful response to explosions in London.
More recently, I feel like this one-liner would have gotten a lot more than 60 favorites if the thread hadn't closed.
I have the opposite problem -- the most-favorited comment I've ever made was a half-drunken screed that sloppily linked a tiny typo in the original post to a sprawling rant about miserable customers at my job, which I made fully expecting it to be deleted by the time I woke up the next morning. Instead I woke up, checked MetaFilter, and it'd been favorited fifty times. What the hell, people. I feel like I should donate those favorites to charity or something.
