I collected book related askMes on the wiki into readMe.
I have gone along way toward collecting book related AskMes into a single wiki page, readMe on analogy to eatMe. I skipped the questions about finding the name of a specific book.
I did all of the entries tagged "book" or "books" up to November 19, 2007. So if anyone wants to jump in for the more recent ones, that would be great. I also put a link to the askMe collections in the Interesting Things section. The fiction section could use some organization.
This was a lot of work, there are around 650 lists of books. You all need to get out more.

Wow, that's "weep helplessly at the overawing glory and my own comparative weeniness"-grade marvelous. There goes an entire folder worth of bookmarks I'd been keeping track of - quite brilliant, what a great idea!

Wait, what? We have to go out to the library/bookstore to get these things? I thought all of the books were going to be scanned and uploaded to readMe - we don't get OUT, that was the whole reason this sucker was possible in the first place, why on earth would we want to start going out now?
Ripoff! Phony! I take back my praise and appreciation, AND everyone else's for good measure!

Yeah, this is fantastic and all, but I'm lazy and churlish - could you read them into mp3 files for me next? I don't want to be unreasonable; no need to do character voices in the fiction works.

And I see there has been no books in or about taking place in Paris question - might have to remedy that when my week is up...

The laxative effect of bookstores is great.

That's why they make libraries!
The last time I went to my neighbourhood library (admittedly over a decade ago), I wasn't very impressed by their English selection though. Gobs and gobs of French books; tiny, tiny English section. I'm not too keen on reading translated works when I could get my hands on the original. They've since moved to a bigger, newer (and closer!) building... but I'm still not too hopeful about finding what I want. Maybe I'll check it out again, or one of the bigger libraries across the river.
Plus I sort of like owning them. That new book smell, crisp and shiney covers/dustjackets. And I read indulgently slow, especially with big fat epic-length fiction.

I am glad everyone likes it. I wouldn't have bothered if I didn't it would be appreciated. By convention I think I am supposed to say I spent way too much time on this, but reading about what books people want to read and the interesting responses is pretty fun. And I am all about sorting stuff. Am so not all about spelling, so keep a look out.

a query: Does a question like this one about Infographics belong? The question asks for general tips and there are a mix of books and websites recommended. Obviously not every question which has an answer pointing to a book belongs on the that wiki page - what do people think the threshold should be?

In cases like this I have been adding them to the list if the questions are general enough that others can get some use out of them and if a good part of the answers give book recommendations, so in this case I would vote to include it.
thanks for pitching in!
