Random logouts December 5, 2007 8:21 AM Subscribe
I keep getting logged out. (Safari)
Each time I come back to the site today I've had to log in again. Never happened before.

If you want to blow out your cookies in Safari:
1.) click Safari -> Preferences... from the top menu
2.) click the Security tab
3.) click the Show Cookies button
4.) type "metafilter" in the search box at the top right
5.) highlight the top cookie, type command+a to select all
6.) click Remove and approve the warning
Then browse to metafilter and click the Login link at the top of the page.
Running through this process usually clears up any login problems with the site.

Hmm. I usually do them once every couple months but I just did them again so I guess we'll see.

Question: A cat ate my cookies. Do I really have to "blow them out?"
Cat is declawed, if it helps.

Could this be the reason why the same random log in/out shenanigans seem to be happening to me with Opera 4.0 mini browser for my Nokia N73YESIREALISEHOWSADIAMTHANKYOUVERYMUCH?

cortex: "I hate to be That Guy, but have you blown out your cookies yet?"
dobbs, if you don't want to blow out your own cookies, I heard that there's a couple places in downtown Toronto where you can pay someone to do it for you.

And one more for the "Threads that should have been closed after the second comment" tag... Once we get them in MetaTalk that is.

I just hope MetaFilter doesn't become known as "that place where you blow out your cookies".

Blowing out your cookies? Sounds like something that should cost you $20.
You know, same as in town.

You have to blow out the imperfect cookies from time to time, Autarky.

I thought macs were perfect...?
Even if you are correct, and dobb's is a Mac user, Safari isn't just for Macs anymore.

The cookies are from the mefi server, so they aren't mac cookies, they're windows cookies.
