Denver/Boulder/Longmont Mefites: Christmas Meetup?
We should start thinking about another meetup. We're pretty settled on doing it at the The Southern Sun, which I assure you has very fine beer, some of the best in our fair state.
The only thing to agree on is a time; this Saturday is out for some of us, so that leaves Saturday the 15th or Saturday the 22nd. (I'd be up for this Friday, but I don't know if that's too short-notice, or if Fridays aren't good for some people.)
So: what'll it be, folks?

Puts me down as a maybiz:
15th: I fly in that day after two weeks away... :(
22nd: I think my in-laws arrive on the Sunday (*GULP*). So it's doable. I could do the 21st likely too.

I'm not at all opposed to a Friday. If it were the 21st, Nails _and_ the good doctor might be able to make it.
Maybe us Denver-ites need to make travel plans so we can carpool or something. I'm wondering about the bus/cab situation. Or a blimp, yeah, a blimp would be cool.
Nails: I'm afraid that on the way to Boulder that a tree might fall on the car, and that the authorities will have us clear away the debris. Boy, that would sure suck. ;-)

Glad you're making use of the book -t. :)
In-laws arrive on Sunday night it seems so I'm dandy for Fri/Sat. If someone with an air of responsibility could research transport that would be great. I could be persuaded to drive I guess...

the 7th works for me. The 8th is comprehensively out. 15th/22nd is cool, too.
Thanks koeselitz. I posted to the bottom of the old meetup thread but it appears to have been abandoned :[

A vote for the 22nd (disregard profile location; I'm from the Centennial state and will be back for the holidays).

-t, dunno about a blimp but there's a real, if outside chance that we could hook up a hot air balloon or a glider (both -ports which reside within a 5 mile radius of meetup locale).

So it looks like the 21st is best. (Sorry for letting this languish. I'm a lazy planner.) I'll put this up in the sidebar.

...and now I've MefiMailed everybody that was in this thread. Should I let anybody else know? Also, is the 21st going to work for everybody?

Well, I can get there around 7:30, which seems like a good time to start staking out a table. I figured that would be a good time to start.

It might happen for me to be there, but it's unlikely. The gf is talking about having a party that night, and I leave for Winter Park the next day, and sometime I have to pack (probably Thursday). I will make a valiant effort to be there!

So there will be at least five of us, I guess. I'll send out a confirmation thingy to everybody I can think of later on today, and we'll see what happens.

Have the likes of fieldtrip, gregore, Brian (oh I can't remember names..) been advised also? And who's coming from Denver that would like to coordinate transport?

brian = reflection. haven't seen a post from him in a dog's age, and as he is a student I'd wondered if he was out of town now.

(1) All have been advised that I can think of - some people here, fieldtrip, gregor-e, reflection. Sorry that this is a bit more last-minute than I meant it to be. Crazy times, kids, crazy times.
(2) So far we have
Nails
lonefrontranger (w/ possible SO)
Viomeda
barnacles
-t
koeselitz
and
hopefully dr fresh.
Which means we'll have at least 6 or 7 or 8-- smaller than usual, but still a good crew. I'm asking all the cats to RSVP, though. It'd be nice to get FlamingBore and Balisong in, too, and I notice it sounded like lukemeister might be in. We shall see.
(3) Wish I could help, transportation-wise, but Viomeda and I are going up early to drop off our dog at the mother-in-law's house, and we're not going back to Denver anyway. Is anybody driving down and back from Denver who has any space?
MefiMail me w/questions, comments, concerns. I'll be pretty responsive tomorrow, I promise, at least until 5 when I get off work.

Don't worry, G. Weather's crazy anyhow. This snow isn't shaping up to allow for much commuting, and a lot of us are coming from a long way.
I can probably still make it up there, but can anybody else? Should we bag this?

Screw it. We're coming. I need beer, and I'm not gonna let no snow scare me off. I'm from here, anyhow. If -t will be there, and it sounds like lonefrontranger is still a go, as of about half an hour ago, then it's a meetup. Heck, barnacles might still show.
We're on. And you'll all get to see Viomeda's (Nico's) new Canon Rebel XTi. And she and lonefrontranger can document this meetup for all it's worth.
Looking forward to it. Soldier on, crew. See you there.

Meredith, I had some pie, blackberry pie, and it was very, very good. Thanks for the recommendation.
koeselitz, thanks for the ride.
NailsTheCat, we missed you. We had barnacles doing a fake Australian accent, tis was not the same. ;-)

why thank you k! I almost didn't use the black-and-white one because it was so blurry. However, I liked your expression enough to just run with it; figured the blur kind of lent itself to my old fallback for failed-but-interesting shots; the dreaded fauxlga workflow!
minus tee speaketh truth, Nails - we missed you, although I think barnacles did a great job stepping into the breach!
man, I missed PIE? crap.
