Greetings Card with Mefi gift November 3, 2007 5:53 AM Subscribe
Reindeer filter: when giving someone a gift MetaFilter account, could it be possible to write a few lines to this person, like explaining what is Mefi, or why you give it now (best wishes, joining the fray, season's greetings, etc.)? It would help for performing "Santa's magical dance". Thanks.
I'll have a blue Christmas, that's certain;
And when that blue heartache starts hurting,
You'll be doing all right
With your Christmas of white,
But I'll have a blue, blue Christmas.

Why would you do that to someone you love?

Too many people wind up with the Gift Emails we send them getting lost in their spam box or otherwise failing to appear.
One way to help avoid is, is to provide the giver with a sort of one time invitation code he can give to his friend.
This allows the giver to add some info like bru asked for, and it takes advantage of the auto whitelist features many e-mail clients use (where e-mail coming from people in the recipients address book is never treated as spiced ham).

Is it worse that I read "Satan's magical dance", or that it took me a few minutes to straighten it out in my head?
