Guessing that this response to the "we should do another Denver Meetup" theme may go unseen as that MeTa thread seems to have run its course, the popcorn's been eaten, the torches burned out long ago, the elephants have pissed and the charming koeselitz is likely off celebrating en masque with his lovely wife at a theme gala.
-t and fieldtrip have both contacted me recently with thoughts about planning another meetup, but since I've not heard/seen anything more, and am generally aimpetuous fuckwit proactive sort, I figured I'd go ahead and post a MeTa to get the process going.
besides, I don't seem to have fieldtrip's wicked email-fu skilz. no, wait, the truth is I'm too lazy / technologically retarded to go all batshitemailfilterinsane on a site of this size.
So far we've been pretty good about adhering to a half-assed somewhat-quarterly schedule. I know we're getting on for the Crazy(Making) Season Of Commercial Excess And Ridiculously Overbooked Schedules, but what do y'all think about the next few weeks?
Central (RTD-friendly) locations work well and I am fond of weekends tho I can bebribed talked into just about anything else. I personally don't need a month's notice, we can just pick a date and whoever shows up, shows up.

I missed the last meetup, which happened shortly after I arrived in Denver. Pretty much any night before Thanksgiving is open for me and I live pretty close to downtown so central works well for me.

Sounds good to me! I'm practically in Wyoming (well, Longmont, actually), but I'd be happy to come to Denver for the occasion.

We were getting drunk, thanks. Anyway, Saturday night was an interesting night. Went to a great, rave-ish, very open party. We both hung back and drank a lot, but the ambience was pretty cool.
I was playing the Ms. Pac-Man machine down in a corner of the dark basement when a guy with a skeleton outfit came up to me, put his hand on my shoulder, and said, real friendly-like:
"I hope somebody hooked you up with some stuff. Did you get what you needed?"
I replied with something smiling, something like, "oh, I'm just a boozehound, but thanks, man, that's nice of you to ask." Then he comes with:
"And, you know... if you needed to be hooked up with someone... well..."
To which "I'm fine" was pretty much all I could say.
Like I said, great party.

If you're aiming for weekends in November, I'm unavailable on Nov 10 + 17. Of course the meetup can happen without me. I could show up late on the 10th (like 10:30-11pm), but no chance on the 17th. Different party, but probably not as great as koeselitz's one!

Will be in Boulder/Denver scouting for housing, childcare, and spousejobs from Nov 15-20. Will be moving Dec 12. Would be fun to meet me-fites in the new/old (i.e. my birthplace) locale.

The weekend of the 10th or the weekend of the 17th work for me, but I can be somewhat flexible this month if other dates work better for the majority.

I've been in Denver a few months now and am lonely and bored, so heck yes. I do not know how to get anywhere but I can figure it out. I also have to be at my nursing clinicals at 5:30 am on Thursdays and Fridays so maybe I should not be going out the night before.

I loves Denver metafilter meetups, me. Since no one has yet suggested dates... may I pitch in: 16th Nov through 25th Nov works for me. I'm in hairy Johannesburg before and after those dates (back around Dev 17th).

koeselitz, funny you should say that, I went to a rave Halloween party on the Saturday before H'ween last year (in Boulder, of all places!) that was pretty much exactly as you described, to the letter.
Note: the underground music scene on the Front Range is f'n AWESOME, fie to anyone who says elsewise.
lukemeister, I feel ya dude. I just let RTD do the driving. Not sure what Longmont's schedule looks like, but there's a 'drunk bus' that goes back to downtown Boulder at, like 1AM.

16th is ok, but I'll have to leave early to see the Warren Miller ski movie @ the Paramount at 9:30pm. 17th is out. 23/24 is currently wide open.

Well crap-on-a-biscuit, I'm in Basalt, Colorado until the 9th. Wish I had time to get to Denver but I'm not even back to my hotel until 6 every night.

But, hell yeah. I can come either weekend. I would think Nov 16th or 17th would be better for more folks since Thanksgiving obligations might fuck up plans for some for the next weekend. Since Dr. Fresh can make at least a portion of Nov 16th may I humbly make a motion we use that date for the meetup? LFR? Anyone?
And, yeah, I kept that old group email, so I'll send a couple of those when we nail the date down.

November 16th is the Denver Roller Dolls bout, and I'll probably be at that. If we meet up on the 16th I could try to swing by what ever local y'all are at, though it would be after 10pm. Do meetups last that long?

oooh snap! I've been meaning to make it to a Roller Dolls bout this year too, and have failed spectacularly on each attempt. I promised my friends we'd all go last weekend, even and then bailed on 'em because VeloSwap was the next morning and my logistics got ganked.
yea, you're right - the 17th does look better. You might be able to swing both in one night, but meetups usually kind of start to peter out around 10, so if you did come that late you may or may not find us.
