This is an odd complaint - but does anybody else have a *lot* of trouble hearing Matt and Jess's voices on an iPod? I often listen to the Mefi podcast on my walk to work, and I have to turn the volume ALL the way up to hear anything at all (and even then I lose half of it). I just can't follow the conversation at all over the street noise and traffic. I don't think it's a general problem with my hearing, because music at that level is deafening. (I've also listened to other voice-based podcasts that didn't seem so quiet.) Or maybe it's a frequency issue - I can definitely hear Jessamyn's voice a lot better than Matt's. Maybe I need to use a different equalizer setting or something. Suggestions would be welcome. (Is there any way you can record 'louder', Matt??)

Oh yeah, usually I compress the voices and boost the volume at the end, but I forgot this time. I'd say load the song in itunes, right click it and hit Get Info, then push the volume up a bit and iTunes should save that setting the next time it plays.

Actually it wasn't just this one, Matt; it's been the last three or four that I've really noticed. I'll try your iTunes trick tomorrow and see if that helps.

Scody sounds just like she oughta - cool, energetic, verbal, and vibrant. It's quite the museum-erific podcast this time. With breasts! Awesome.

Hey, thanks for the shoutout, scody! My photo-taking finger is just fine despite all the furniture moving. I'm not actually a believer of karma, but given how people have helped me before (like letting me crash on their couches before/after meetups), it's only fair that I give some back here and there. But you had better not break up with that bastard: I'm so not moving that mattress again, you hear?
P.S. Still hot for melons!

In general I find podcasts are quieter than my CD collection. This is true both of professionally-produced podcasts coming from NPR and some homebrewed stuff acquaintances do on their laptop's built-in mic.
I don't know exactly why but I'm guessing it's because I have "Sound Check" selected in iTunes, which equalizes playback levels on music. I'd bet it doesn't affect podcast files.

I think it's interesting to note that no one seems to have any problem hearing me on the podcast, probably because I am yelling. Hee.
Anyhow, thanks again, Matt and Jess -- it was mucho fun! And it was nice to have it to listen to it last night... I had just brought my boyfriend back from a trip to the ER (note to everyone out there: please avoid accidentally putting your arm through a pane of glass, as Bad Things tend to ensue), and so in his Dilaudid haze, he was quite amused by the whole thing.

Technical question: Are you two in the same room? And if you're not, are you using something to make it sound as though you are? And if so, what?
Enquiring minds want to know, please.
