Lawrence MeFites, let's meet up.

It's been a while since the last Lawrence meetup. I think we're overdue for one. There, I said it. Last Friday of September or First Friday of October, perhaps? Maybe at the Replay or the Gaslight or some other place with a nice patio?

Yes, let's -- I missed the last one. Either of those dates works for me; +1 for doing it at the Replay.

I'd prefer the Replay, because we (Sybil and I) can easily walk there. Either date is fine, though.

Do you have any idea how many places named Lawrence there are, just in the U.S.? If you don't tell me which one you're going to be in, I'm almost certain to go wrong.

Hey, if you wait till the 29th or the next week or so, I'll be in Kansas City and I could make a meetup in Lawrence. It's not that far, is it?

EB: It depends where in Kansas City you are staying, but generally it is a 20-30 minute drive. K-10 was built for the sole purpose of linking Kansas City and Lawrence. It has light traffic and you can easily go 80MPH. Given the Kansas terrain, you really have to be drunk or going incredibly fast to not be able to get within ~10MPH of the speed limit after spotting a patrol car. I've heard of students commuting from the southern suburbs of Kansas City to Lawrence, so it is not a stretch to make the drive.

Where or what part of town are you staying in?

Yeah, the 5th is fine, I think. I'm still working out the details of my visit. But there's a cheap fare from here to KC at the end of the month, so I think that's the day I'm going—that Friday, to be exact. Then I'll be driving back a car I'm buying from my mom.

My mom and her husband live in the north, at little Lake Waukomis. My sister and her husband and my new nephew I'll be seeing the first time, all live south of the river. But it's no big deal to me as long as it's not more than 60 miles. And on the map it looks less than that.

I'm sorry to report that I'm not going to be there this coming week as I had planned. My trip to KC has been changed to mid-November. Have a fun meetup! Sorry I couldn't make it.

Okay, then, for the record, I'm flying into KC on November 18th and then will probably drive home to Albuquerque sometime around the 26th.

Ah, everyone I know lives on the Missouri side. But, you know, that's a long time to be in Missouri.

Seriously, KC is okay. It's never really blown me away, though, in the fourteen years my mom has lived there. She and her husband live north, at Lake Wakomis. My sister and brother-in-law, and new little nephew, all live south in Grandview, which is an awfully long way from my mom's.
