Wifey tells me that MeFi was mentioned on this show last night. She said one of the featured vids was from a post here on MeFi. (I missed it-was watching Billy Jack vs. Evil Bikers or something.)

Yeah I saw that too. It had to do with a video of newlyweds dancing or something. They said their vieo was posted here and got "millions" of hits.

klangklang, Billy Jack loses some battles but mostly kicks ass. I think that movie was from around '65, based on a hottie mentioning that she was born in '45, and it was amazing how some of those "hippies" look just like my neighbors today. (end BJ derail.)

I talked to a website owner that was linked to in a much favorite post on mefi and it did not result in anything like a million hits directly, but what it did result in was it getting cross posted on a bunch of blogs around the world over a period of a few weeks, each of which generated a new spurt of hits.

I've had my sites show up on the front page several times over the years. At best, Metafilter delivers a few thousand hits, or used to, as late as a year or two back.

When I got Dugg (and reddited and Slashdotted and all the rest in a couple of weeks period) the traffic was more like a few hundred thousand hits. So, no, Metafilter won't deliver anything like a million hits, in my experience -- about 3 orders of magnitude less, in fact.
