What's the opposite of eponysterical?

I dunno. Is it supposed to be a non-PC Jingle Bells jingle?

It's anti-eponysterical, but some prefer aneponysterical.

I think we're done here.

Well, many hits for anti-eponysterical, zero hits for aneponysterical.

Also, why is eponysterical not in the spell check?

I'd like to point out that much of this rhetorical jargon was first coined by that greatest of Greek sophists, Yourmomides.

Also, why is eponysterical not in the spell check?

Because you're using FF 2.0.x, and the spellcheck is local to your machine?

Yourmomides was so fat, he was actually more of a sectionalist with two armchairs and a coffee table.

Yourmomides said that killing non-Jews wasn't really murder.

I would love to know how many times that spell check question has come up. I can think of at least three or four times that I've seen it now.

I like anti-eponysterical.

That example's just plain old eponysterical, in the sense that the juxtaposition of the name and the content is amusing - it doesn't have to be apt to be funny, does it? (if it does, you're all using it wrong. Yes, all of you. )

Anyway, that's what the Wiki says.

Is this a good place to mention that every time I see someone proudly comment how eponysterical someone else's comment is I feel this overwhelming urge throttle someone. God I hate that word. There's something so damn smirky about it. It's like that drama twit you knew in high school who just oozed pretension. And eponysterical doesn't even have the excuse that is 16 and trying to figure out if it is gay or not.

The unending repeating of in-jokes like eponysterical and plate of beans etc. speaks of the fact that our need to communicate is larger than our ability to think of something new. Which makes us very human I guess.

It's a survival thing. It bonds the tribe while keeping outsiders at a distance until they crawl obsequiously under the fence on their bellies begging to know our secret language.

Those dudes who are always thinking "new" are dangerous.

empath: see this thread for a bit more about MetaFilter and "eponysterical." (The word itself is a neologism, or back-formation, from eponym.)

In the case of your post, I thought the fact that a MeFite named empath was seeking the words of a "tasteless, racist" song was amusing — perhaps even hysterical — but much more ironic than eponymous. ¿Comprende?
