jessamyn: lalex did say "I'm quite reluctant to make throwaway comments in threads " and I tend to agree.

co.mments.com has a bookmarklet that will track new comments in Mefi.
Hook up to your personal RSS and let the comments come to you via RSS reader.
Voila!

Previously. I still hold out hope for this. It would be extremely useful.
Lots of throwaway comments decreases the usefulness of the site. Although it might explain the rationale behind some comments.

This would be a good feature.

Couldn't you just use the bookmarks feature of your web browser?

sorry for misreading and confusing cocomments.com with co.mments.com, waking up seems to come later and later every day no matter what time I get out of bed.
I'd love a combined feature that basically allows for "add this to my RSS feed when the poster marks the issue 'resolved'" which would, of course, necessitate a resolved feature as well which I think has been a long time coming and would be slightly different from best answer.

Hey, seems to be working! Let this be the last throwaway comment from me, ever (not to be confused with all my other garbage comments).

dang, i just noticed that there is cocomment.com, and then there is co.comments.com, as Jessamyn pointed out. Crap...the indecision! Anybody have any comments (ha, dead horse!) on either of these?

GAH! I messed that up. The second comment in my third comment should read co.mments.com, not co.comments.com
I'm about to die of recursion. These are all throwaway, please disregard me.

It would be totally sweet if MetaFilter integrated with coComment. I have no idea if it's possible, though.

So, I'm the only enthusiastic user of commentful.
If you're checking out the above sites, go ahead and give this one a try too. I found it to work on the broadest range of forums and blogs out of all of them. It does require installing a Firefox extension. The extension will tell you when a new comment has been added, and there is an RSS feed as well.
