Beautiful Balls of Mud June 22, 2007 6:34 PM Subscribe
Not too long ago there was a post about a guy who hand-polished balls of mud thus creating works of art. My searches fail me. Can anyone point me to that? Thank you.
wow, the inline images in that old thread really startled me. May 2006? has it really been only a year?

There are a few amazing examples, really shiny, on Flickr. Search for dorodango.

I've been hand-polishing my balls for years and no one's called them works of art. Hell, I was doing it yesterday, and they threw me off the bus and ripped up my pass.

If you use Firefox, this add-on will automatically convert links to images into inline images. Presto chango! It worked for me on this thread just fine, for example (note you have to switch it on with the little status bar icon before it starts working).

The current issue of Craft magazine has a how-to on how to make these, as well.

I remembered it as a Japanese thing, so I got there by searching Google for "japanese mud balls." That gave me the name of them, "dorodango," which I then searched for on Metafilter.

I checked this thread just to see how long it took someone to post that.
