FREE BEERS FIXED GEARS AND ZOMBIES O MY!!! May 11, 2007 7:16 PM Subscribe
HEY DENVER! yes you. I know this is short notice and all but i figured free beer, a rolling art party and a bunch of zombies couldn't possibly go wrong. May 16th. Details inside.
I have moved the details to here:
Next Weds night, May 16th the first 'official' Denver Cruise kicks off. IT IS FREE, no cover. I have no affiliation with the D.C., and this is not a selflink - i ran it by jessamyn and she thought it'd be cool. i'm simply a lush with a bike who thinks bringing along some spare MeFites and MeChaZens would be like... i dunno tossing gasoline on a bonfire - yaknow, things that make ya go WEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
bat time: Wednesday 16th May. folks usually start gathering 7.00 - 7.30(ish)... tho they're kinda casual about when they leave, prolly around 8(ish)
bat place: Paris Wine Bar, Platte St. just east of 15th (up the street from the REI flagship store).
this week's party theme is Zombies, and, most importantly from what the cruise director told us last week there will be FREE BEER at most or all of the bar stops. now mind you, it's likely that's going to entail high life or PBR, but you can't look a gift horse, blablabla. so, basically we all just roll around from bar to bar until we get too wobbly to continue or the bars close, whichever comes first... it's a pub crawl on bikes, to wit.
it's ostensibly a cruiser (bike) ride, and yes, there are quite a few messenger/hipster types on fixies, but you don't need any specific sort of bike or any sort of fitness whatsoever to join. Just bring a sense of humour, a set of non-motorised wheels (people have *skateboarded* the cruise, believe it or not) and willingness to have more fun than should righly be legal. oh, and i guess for safety's sake you should stick some blinky thingies on your bike, but they're cheaper than you think.
please join us!

wait - I'm confused. Is jessamyn throwing this shindig, or lonefrontranger?

lonefrontranger is already well on the binge. Jessamyn has cleaned-up after him.

my apologies. and thanks jessamyn.
and i'm not THROWING the shindig, merely piling on and inviting further pileons via mefi.
i blame the fact that i am an askmefi'er - i apparently failed 'more inside' class. i forget that in the blue and grey one must 'more inside' via comments, not within the frames. i did this the last time and swore i'd change my ways.
sadly, though i've had a beer now, i was stone cold sober when posting that mess.
and mmahaffie i am a her, not a him. not that it matters.

It doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but I do apologize for the error. And for being overly snarky. You should just claim that the air was particularly thin yesterday.

So I'm curious, are the BWI laws MUCH looser in Colorado then they are elsewhere?? In California, it's apparently exactly the same as DWI....

JMOZ... apparently so much so that we have the blessing of the denver police department to do these shindigs. one of our regular cruisers happens to be a sergeant on the force in fact.
so long as we're not blocking traffic, don't ride on the sidewalks, and run blinky lights for visibility, they leave us be.

yo fieldtrip - just go to the salvation army, get an old pair of dickies and cut 'em off at the seam on the bottom of the 'kneepatch' section. voila! messenger knicks for under 20 bucks. you dont even have to hem them; the fabric's tough enough it won't unravel.
dr. fresh, it ain't like the denver cruise is going anywhere. join us any wednesday - we'll be cruising all summer! they meet at paris wine bar every week between 7 and 7.30
i can't promise zombies or free beers at subsequent cruises tho...
those of you who do make it look for me; i'm short, female, carry a camo chrome bag and ride a chrome-and-gaffer's-tape bianchi fixte.
