MetaTalk comment redirect March 7, 2007 8:27 PM   Subscribe

When I'm looking at a user's page and click the timestamp of one of their MetaTalk comments, the link redirects to the original post instead of the user's specific comment. Does this happen to anyone else?

I've seen this happen when the comment in question has been deleted, but I'm not sure if it always does that (or is supposed to).

Does the browser jump to the right part of the thread, regardless of what gets displayed in the browser's address bar?

I've noticed a similar phenomenon in IE, where the comment #xxxxx anchor isn't displayed under some circumstances, but the page does load to the appropriate comment. I haven't pinned down the details yet, though.

I know more or less what you're talking about, lalex, and as a fellow user of Safari, I feel your pain. The anchors aren't consistently working, and it's since the new URL scheme was implemented, I think. The worst part is, they work sometimes still, so I can't tell what's borked, or I'd have piped up in a MeTa of my own.

Here, thedevildancedlightly levels a bunch of accusations at GrooveJedi. None of those links work for me. They go to the right thread, but not to the comment. In my address bar, the correct information with the descriptive title flashes briefly and is replaced by the thread number, and it's as if I've clicked on the thread, not on a link to a specific comment.

That'd be a safari bug. But lemme rewrite the URLs so they bounce correctly for Safari.

It should be fixed now.
