Hoder Hoder Hoder - Hoder is a name that's fun to say three times February 20, 2007 12:29 AM Subscribe
I ran across an interesting blog this morning written by an Iranian living in Toronto. It's called Editor: MYSELF. The publisher, Hossein Derakhshan, had a strong piece, "Democracy's Double Standard In Iran," in the International Herald Tribune/New York Times last year and seems bent on demystifying Iran's politics and leaders...Iran's Bloggers. Well deservedly, Hoder gets a shout out in Steve Clemons's The Washington Note. May we all benefit from the prestige of our association with him. Oh, wait, we weren't mentioned. Well, all the same, three cheers for Hoder.
Abiezer, so we are supposed to miraculously know that. Vague is the new cool.

And reading Hoder's blog, I find he visited Israel. Good man.
On preview: ah, right, is that the problem. I guess I just knew who he was as I appreciated hoder's two most recent MeFi posts, and had noticed his name in my years as a lurker.

Not me - I have always left that for people even more pedantic than I (if such an animal exists). We should have more creative formatting and single-link, one-word posts, in my opinion.

I've already complained about this one. No need do it twice.
And if someone felt the need to plump out an AskMe question with a big old blockquote, I'd complain about that, too.

If you can't figure that out, it's probably too soon to be reading MetaTalk. Give it another six months.

Oh good god. I don't know about your screen resolution but on mine the quote is three whole lines.
And I haven't been around long but I deduced the meaning of the post just fine.

I don't read Hoder's site as much as I used to because he's always talking smack about everyone who isn't a reformist. His universal love from Western news outlets isn't shared by other Iranians: Hossein is part of a generation of idiot savants who have the audacity to refer to themselves as human rights activists, while sipping on five dollar latte's and attending bogus conferences in the proverbial West.

He made a few posts this week, but his last posts previous to that were two years ago. Why exactly should he be considered a mefi member in the press when he's got a perfectly fine blog empire all his own?

For no reason at all. I just threw that in for the halibut.
I didn't know he had an empire, though--it seemed more like a kingdom.

chunking - thanks for that counterpoint. As usual, I find that there's depths and sides to issues of which I am woefully ignorant.
