MeFi's Dylan? February 16, 2007 4:31 AM Subscribe
As he's currently holding 4 of the 5 coveted "Most Favorited Tracks in the past 7 days", a staggering 86 (and counting!) favorites for his latest MeFi-related (and sidebarred!) tune, is it perhaps time to consider changing that heading for MeFi Music to "rock and/or cortex"? Well, anyway, congratulations, cortex!
There should always be a Mefi-adores-cortex post on the front page. I'll take some shares too!

Oh jesus christ. I like you too; now hush up. My internal attention whore passed out from fatigue some time last night, and the rest of my psyche is looking around and feeling kind of awkward.
And anyway, Mathowie's Community Blog owes more to both IRFL and French Fry creatively (writing and performance respectively); I was basically just the truck driver for that one.

"rock and/or cortex"?
No kidding. Have you seen his singing newspaper, flapjax? That slogan (We'll sing the news so you don't have to) is pure genius. When I finally win the lottery I'm gonna give him some millions so that he can devote himself to that.
I still have to decide what am I gonna do when I see that he is here all the time instead of singing the news, though.

And flapjax, now that no one is watching, regarding "the coveted Most Favorited Tracks in the past 7 days": I think I've posted more songs than you, so, I'll favorite two of yours for each one of mine you favorite. If we get snsranch and some others into this, we can overthrow him ; )

Don't get me wrong. It is a very handsome head. Truly spectacular. I just haven't seen the sun in months and I'm getting a little testy. Migratory birds have been getting lost. Whales are beaching themselves at an alarming rate. Far off hydroelectric generators beneath the umbrella of His Dome are drying up and losing power, throwing the region into economic turmoil. There are three distinct cults dedicated to worshipping individual features of His Head. His Large Benogginedness has even disrupted the jetstream, causing an unseasonably late and harsh winter in the northeast.
I really should stop before he changes his mind about invoking me in one of his songs and decides to never do it again.

I warn you, I head cortex's Ministry of the Interior Police, and we're not known for our gentleness to rebels. You boys better be far, far underground.
I'm sittin alone, Saturday night, watching the Late Late Show.
A bottle of wine, some cigarettes, I got no place to go.
Well, I saw your other man today; he was wearing my brand new shoes,
And I'm down to seeds and stems again, too.
Well, I met my old friend Bob today from up in Bowling Green;
He had the prettiest little gal that I'd ever seen.
But I couldn't hide my tears at all, cause she looked just like you,
And I'm down to seeds and stems again, too.
CHORUS:
Now everybody tells me there's other ways to get high.
They don't seem to understand I'm too far gone to try.
Now these lonely memories, they're all I can't lose,
And I'm down to seeds and stems again, too.
Well my dog died just yesterday and left me all alone.
The finance company dropped by today and repossessed my home.
That's just a drop in the bucket compared to losing you,
And I'm down to seeds and stems again, too.
Got the Down to Seeds and Stems again Blues.

But we ain't going underground, man... naw, we're fighting in the broad daylight from here on out.

Yup, and I highly recommend the album, Live from Deep in the Heart of Texas. (Not only does it capture a shit-kickin', ass-rockin' live performance, it was the subject of a very interesting book, Star-Making Machinery by Geoffrey Stokes.)

Oh boy, the revolution took off! Comrades, the key is in the numbers.
cortex, who must people take to be one person, is actually a bunch of 'em. Tens. Dozens. No way one single cortex could do the aural times, be a Garvey gal, have a marriage, post all those songs to metafilter music, do the rpm, do the churlish pule and then write the history of this site in songs. So, it's a numbers game!
