Cheating woman thrashed on radio prank show February 14, 2007 8:02 AM   Subscribe

A while back there was a post of a radioshow pranking a cheating woman. The host built her up to think she was getting engaged, and then bought her crashing down with the news that her now ex boyfriend had found her out. I cant find it! Help!

I don't know what the Mefi post is but you're referring to Galaxy's Danny Dumps and this recent show.

Hideous. Why is the human race so fucking hideous?

anastasiav, wow, that is SUCH an ugly story. It's so sad to read, especially how cocky and careless the writer is.

Goddamn. That's a regular show? What a bloodsport.

But what a bloodsport it is!

No kidding. Reminds me of that saying: "The more people I meet, the more I like my dog." I'm going to count my blessings and go give my wife a hug now.

Gamblor, I was going to make a snarky remark but you know what, Ditto. I've got a wife I can completely trust...and I like my dog :)

cheers

That craigslist story is horrible!

I dunno. The writer is a scumbag, but I have no sympathy for anyone in that story. The radio show, on the other hand, made a public spectacle of a painful moment -- hell, creating the moment at the same time. You'd have to be made of stone to have no sympathy for that woman.

Why should I have sympathy for that woman? Are young lovers somehow exempt from cause and effect relationships? Immune from consequences?

I do agree that the show is a bit of a bloodsport. But so is "To Catch a Predator."
posted by sourwookie at 12:46 PM on February 14, 2007

Absolutely not. It's not being dumped that's the cause for sympathy. Or even dumped harshly. It's having it made into local spectacle that makes it sad.

If the Craigslist story is true, the woman so richly deserved what she got, I can't do anything but laugh.

Putting it on the radio, though, is probably crossing the line.

"Would you feel bad if a child molester got outed on the radio? How 'bout on TV?

The public radio dumping is absolutely awful and ugly. One of the warmer rings of Hell is devoted to people who make their private shit public.

The Craigslist story, on the other hand, doesn't name the woman, who gets exactly she deserves. The writer may be a smug asshole, but I don't see what he did wrong. I feel bad for the kid, though.

anastasiav: Ugly nothing. That story was nothing short of beautiful.

anastasiav, Any man who has had a woman pull the "I think I'm pregnant" or the "we don't need condom I'm sterile" cons knows the feeling that somebody is trying to con you into 2 decades of servitude to support somebody elses kids. (or your kids that you don't want)

That case is why men should have the right of abortion too.

Well certainly you shouldn't need a lawyer to force the determination of paternity. That information should be handed out with every baby alongside the knit toque.

It's part of the skewed view that everything should be in the BEST interests of the child. Not just "take the child's interests into account" or "make the child's interests a priority". So if uncertain paternity leads to fewer single-parent homes, even if people get swindled into life-changing, bankrupting responsibility, so be it says society.

People often wind up with the partners they deserve. Regardez: Mr. Craigslist. When you're a misogynistic fucksprocket, you're likely to attract your female counterpart, a woman who thinks that men are so stupid they won't ask twice when she tells them that they've inseminated her.

When he decided to have a "casual, pleasant relationship" with this woman and neither asked for or offered any sort of commitment from this, he forfeited his right to get his tighty whiteys in a twist when she slept with someone else.

I don't think it's the "slept with someone else" part that bothers him, (and I'm not entirely sure why a casual realtionship is an excuse for nonconsensual nonmongamy,) it's the "HAW HAW YOU'RE A PAW," gotcha of hooking a guy soley for his wallet. And besides that, the guy could be Hitler, and it still wouldn't be right to the kid, childeren should not be punishments for fucksprockets of any kind.
