St. Patty's or April Fool's Bawlmore meet?
sorry I missed the last get-together but youcancallmeal may be in NYC *any day now*!

I won't be there, but as a former Bawlmoron, I'd go with the former, assuming all else is equal. St. Patrick's Day is a pretty good time in Charm City, and when else are you going to have corned beef and cabbage?

Suggesting a MeFi meet at a place that did not serve alcohol on St Patty's day, I think, would get one banned for life with double-secret anti-sock-puppet detection.
So, yeah.

I know I flaked on the last meetup, but I would do my best to join on April Fool's Day (I'm on childcare duty on St. Patty's Day, most likely).

I've often wondered why it's known as St. Patty's day rather than Paddy's day in the States. Anybody know?

I think it's because Paddy is sometimes taken as a pejorative like 'Mick', whereas Patty is more neutral sounding, I guess.

I could do it April 1st, but I'll be out of town on St. Patty's.

As far as I know, I'm available both days. This could change, though as my rehearsal schedule changes.

I've never been to the Thirsty Dog, is it good besides the fact that canines are allowed?

OK!
schroedinger, justonegirl and Faint of Butt: April 1 preference
dhammond (in spirit) and sperose: St Patty's
youcancallmeal: either/or
nj_subgenius: either/both
I don't know charm city much, so I depend on your kind guidance: can you recommend a place with reasonable beer selection and atmosphere that might welcome MeFites?

thirsty dog is good, but depending on size of crowd might be small. club charles is always good, but we've been there. brewer's art might be a good choice if we can grab one of the tables.

Well, I have an inquiry to The Brewer's Art for St Patrick's Day, Saturday. April 1 is a Sunday, so I don't know how popular that will be. A MeTa post from anyone who responded to this one with the question might bring some more responses. And, when I originally posted, gray FPPs were whizzing off the main page pretty quickly, so it could have easily been missed.
