I know we're going through the growing pains of how to best deal with AskMeFi's surging growth and whatnot, but I thought I'd stop and say "thanks" in the meantime. Don't know where I'd be without my green addiction.

Tang mixes well with vodka. I learned this from my college pal Quaz. Soon after drinking it, he walked out the window of his dorm room, down the 4th floor ledge about twenty feet and then in the window of the dorm room next door. to get back to the article:
i poop on the idea that these lessons could ever be used to manage a great place such as metafilter.

mattamyn, jesshowie, whatever you want to concactenate the names of our superheros into... just do what seems best at the given moment. their judgment of what is best at a certain moment is terabytes more useful than any guiding 'principles'.

this is metafilter's strength, and to normalize this strategy into a top ten post is pretty lame.

Oh man, is that ever on the money. I'm one of the people responsible for RLFANS, which is now, to my eyes, huge. We're a sport site trying to provide a place for every aspect of that sport, and some of the bigger pro teams *hate* each other. Some of our mods, man, I wish we could pay them huge amounts of money with some of the shit storms they have to sort out, some of the accusations of performance enhancing drug taking they have to deal with, and the assorted means of copyright and broadcast rights infringement they delete. Broadcast rights were decided by a very, very bitter battle about a decade ago - with so much money spent on it there is no way those people will think twice about taking me to the cleaners. In a way I owe everything to our mods.

We do what we can in terms of occassional free tickets to games for people but it will never, ever be enough.

Moderators, I salute thee.
